48cc Chinese made 2 stroke engine. The engine is the Skyhawk GT-2 made by Grubee Inc. There are a lot of dealers online. I got mine is kit for about 100 bucks. Engine, carb, exhaust pipe, gas tank, clutch lever/cable, twist throttle and cable, kill switch, chain, drive sprockets and random hardware.

You supply the bicycle. Preferably a steel framed MTB or cruiser with a freewheel rear hub and hand brakes. The motor has cast mounts for steel tubed bike frames, The tubes on an alum frame are too large. You can buy adapters though. They are fugly.

So yeah, put it all together and came out with this...

That is so awesome it's not funny.
Thanks guys. It is a ton of fun. Mine is 'ok'. There are guys putting 80cc Honda engines in their replicas... But, Ive got to start somewhere.

It will really look the piece with the brooks saddle.. Maybe think about chopping the springer fork and running a 24" balloon front.
Done and done... I picked up a brooks from the 60's off craigslist yesterday. Its going to need some love to be useable though. Ive also ordered a springer fork for it. Seems like its taking ages to come in. I hadnt thought of the 24" front wheel idea. Sounds good to me. Ill have to build up a new front wheel for the springer because Ill have to run a front drum brake. Ill have to track down a 24" all white tire too... Hah. it never ends.

Ducati actually made those kit before they started making motorbikes (I believe sometime after WW2)

Pretty cool, they had a lot of succes with those kit. Maybe they can be found at ebay?
Oh interesting! Ill have to read up on them...

Bugatti made a supercharged engine for bicycles.

Picked up an old brooks saddle. But it was too far gone. So I got a reproduction. I think it fits the look pretty well. Also stuck on a different pair of handle bars to see if I liked them. Not sure yet. I also rigged a new throttle out of an older Sram X0 twist shifter. Put about 50 miles on it this past week. Loving it. Now Ive just got to get a real moto...
