Man, it's been awhile..

Since I had to do an intro thread.

Hi everyone, I was referred here by a member from "another" Saab forum.

So, I'm 37, male, married with one daughter and another on the way. I grew up in a hick town in SE Indiana, spent most of my life there and in SW Ohio with a two year stint in northern Europe. My 07 9-3 SC Aero was purchased on European Delivery in anticipation of my move back to Ohio. I've got a Hirsch chip in it, dealer installed in Copenhagen.

Dealer said "this will give you more power."

I said "how much?"

He said "about 20 hp and 40 ft/lbs of torque."

I said "no, how many kroner?"

It's also my first Saab and I'm glad I bought it over the competition. I spent 17 hours driving from Italy to Denmark and aside from general fatigue from driving for that long(the last 500km done at an average speed of 93mph)I was not beat up as bad as I should have been.

Anyway, good to be here, look forward to chatting.

Welcome. What part of Indiana? I'm from central Indiana up in Noblesville but I'm in Evansville for school.

Oh and pics.

Pic's? Ok.

I've currently got 16" Goodyear Eagle Ultragrips on it. The 17" Conti's look so much better. Took these last weekend when it was 63F and sunny. It snowed 15 inches this weekend.

Honestly, I really don't know much about the Hirsch products, other than that they aren't available in America and the chip, or software upgrade, is the only thing I could legally do and get it through customs. I put a K&N filter in it as soon as I got it here. It definitely has more power than the stock Aero I drove. My salesman in the US was blown away when I spun the wheels in 3rd gear, while rolling!

Mentally, I was fried for two days after. Long distance, high speed driving takes a lot of concentration, and the Autobahn and the Autostrada(especially through the Alps into Austria)can be very frightening. In some places in the left lane, the steel guardrail was just about eye level and a foot away from your mirror.

Thanks everybody, since I did ED I looked at all the euro cars that offered it and the Saab was the best looking and you get more for less money. The 328xi is just overpriced, I have a friend that sells BMWs, and he couldn't get me a better deal. Volvo's are, well, Volvos, they just don't excite me and they're owned by Ford, I'm not a blue oval guy(scary thing, I was reading the current issue of AutoWeek and in 1989 Ford was in negotiations to buy Saab who knows what would have happened) and I don't have Mercedes money.

Wow customs would have nixed your car for anything more than a hirsch ECU. That's a bummer.

Maybe, maybe not, the salesman couldn't give me a yes or no answer. So I decided to play it safe, considering some of the ED horror stories I'd read(people waiting up to 3 months for their car. I got mine in less than a month after dropping it in Amsterdam). I'm not really into modding it yet, aside from tinted windows. I plan on keeping this car forever(my title says "Previous Owner: SAAB Automobile A/S, Trollhatten, Sweden")so I want to keep things stock for the first year or so. An exhaust system will probably the first thing I do.
