Thanks guys! I appreciate it!

More pics can be found here. Don't worry, for those with queasy stomachs, no pics of Val on the operating table (C-Section...)

YES. Collin needs some baby friends sporting griffin gear with him to.

Collin rocking out in his BGG.

I swear those were huge bugs he splattered while learning to drive .

It was touch and go last week as Val was pre-eclamptic (caused by the placenta, eclamptia is seizures caused by high blood preasure and toxemia of the liver and kidneys. It can be deadly. The only "cure" is delivery of the babies). They put her on magnesium sulfate to control the high blood pressure and protein in her urine and try (and succeeded) in keeping the babies in her until 34 weeks but it made her truly sick and lethargic.

By Friday they decided to either induce or C-Section. The thing is, magnesium totally relaxes every muscle in her body, and likely couldn't have pushed naturally, so they went ceasarian.

All is good now. Val was released Tuesday. The boys, being 6-weeks early, are getting stronger every day. Breathing on their own, off light therapy (counteracts jaundice -- a common syndrome in premature babies), and off the I-V's. Only thing left is to feed consistently off a bottle rather than tube fed. This usually takes a long time for the babies to coordinate breathing, sucking and swallowing -- I never knew that was a learned response, but it is.

Anyway, they're doing great. Getting stronger every day. It's just tough being over an hour away from them every night (although I'll probably regret loosing the sleep we're getting now, I suppose! ).

I was going to name the twins "Turbo" and "Boost". Collin could be "Wastegate". Whatcha think? LOL I just thought the double meaning fits.

Sounds like they've made incredible progress in the last week. It's also good to see the staff encouraging Val to hold them against her chest. That's a practice that really took off about 12 years ago with preemies and I remember doing a story on how doctors said it really adds to the bonding process during a time when most parents felt like their children were so fragile.

Definitely stock up on the sleep now! With two, who knows the next time you'll get any shuteye. Best to everyone!

Aireeca, Thanks so much! Yeah, I we got to hold both of them today for "Kangaroo Care" time, each trading a twin. It was great! Such an emotional bonding time for all of us.

Also, as I watched Val bottle feeding Connor, I could see Connor's eyes just continuously roamed over Val's face as if burning her image into his brain.

I have no doubt that he already knew her voice, and now he's starting to associate that with her image. Truly amazing process.

I love being home with Collin. I was actually home this last weekend and because Lauren wasn't feeling so great her parents said it was ok for me to sleep in Collin's room (has an extra bed). Well I discovered I was allergic to cats at a family friend's house so later that night I had the draining down the back of the throat and the cough/itch inbetween the shoulder blades. Tried as hard as I might to keep from coughing but at 5am it was over and I lost control. Collin woke right up screaming and I couldn't help but smile and so he and I just rocked away........he got a nice warm bottle of milk and then went right back to sleep.
