Autocross info in DC Area

One of my neighbors from another club does Autocross and I said that members of the Saab community might be interested, especially since its local

The Autocrossers Inc. group is basically the same thing that the Washington DC Region SCCA does, but with fewer people (about 150 vice 300); because of that, it also doesn’t take as long. Same type of course (nice and long, about 60 sec for a typical run) in same Fed Ex Field parking lot. Cost for non-SCCA members is $45. You get 4 runs. Loaner helmets are available there. Spectators welcome (have to sign waiver at main entry point).

Their next event is 20 July. Sean and I plan to go. Here’s where you register and pay. http://www.dlbracing.com/Clubs/drive...x?EventID=3398

You’ll need to select a car class to run in (and also a car number) when you register. Classes are the same as the SCCA Solo categories.

Here is the info on the autocross events (they call it Solo II) of the Washington , DC Region (WDCR) of the SCCA -

The next event is 17 August. They are very professionally administered events, with electronic timing and running commentary by an announcer. Held in FedEx Field, Lots E and F usually, but now in Lot A since the start of preps for pre-season games. For Washington , DC region events, the entry fee is $30 for SCCA members, and $45 for non-members. Non-competitors are admitted free of charge. Usually takes ½ day for someone to compete – either 0700-1200, or 1100-1700, more or less.

List of events and links to register -

Here are the rules and classes for the cars. When you register for an event, you have to select what class you are going to run in, as well as a # to put on the side of your car. There’s an appendix in the back that lists typical makes and models for classes. http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=61

Below is the info from last week’s event. It would be good to see some from your club out there - ! It is fantastic prep for hi-speed driving on road courses.

I'll PM you reference this trip. Or better yet I'm going to give you a call. The Autocross looks really good too. Funny though. I'm not afraid to drive fast on our highways with Masterbadge, but I'm scared to death to Autocross my car.
