Just a heads up:

They've been so gracious once again in offering up their facilities for a start-stop point and Barbeque post Fun Run. Details to come, but we're looking at the end of June, perhaps the weekend of the 30th.

I'll be meeting with Rick, Marge and Jeff Williams tomorrow to finalize details, so look for updates in the next day or so.

So c'mon out, and enjoy the burgers, 'dogs, brauts, Saabs and great people, and great roads!

Stay tuned for more info!

In the mean-time, I need you to start letting me know now if you're interested in coming so we know how much food and drinks to prepare for.

Sorry for the false alarm on dates last night. Hopefully it won't create too much conflict.

Additional details to follow.

Been on the road for work the last two weeks, one more week to go...
go...
BUT...
We are on for July 7 at S&S. I did speak with the folks there and we're coordinating food and grill, etc.

I expect we'll start the drive portion around 10:30 to arrive back at S&S for grub just a bit after noon.

More info to come--I'll back home by Friday, and will be dropping by S&S this Saturday for more planning.

The route has already been worked out on my PC, and I plan to do a "dry-run" this weekend to make sure I didn't inadvertantly put us on a dirt road.

Look for more here in the coming days.

Oh, and sorry for lack of updates before now. Work keeps getting in the way of fun!

Jim Miller, WASSAAB

Saabarbeque just a week away! Saturday, July 7

Once again, been on work travel this week. I first want to thank S&S, Rick and Marge Stanley specifically, for allowing us to drop in on their shop, but even more so on helping coordinating grub.

The FunRun will leave S&S at ~10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7. So get there early to register and for a very brief driver's meeting at 10 am.

As always, LOTS of fun, twisty roads, but safety is first and foremost. This isn't a race, but we will be having some rather spirited drives. A new route this year that'll take us through some gorgeous scenery.

What to bring:
Your enthusiastic self!
Your ride! (Shine 'em up!)
Your appetite!
And you might want to bring some folding chairs, too. S&S only has so many...
If you have it, GMRS walkie talkie.
A cell phone is suggested as well...(Just in case you get separated from the group -- never has happened, but there's always a chance...)

I have a general list of participants, but if you can respond to this thread and confirm you're coming -- need headcount for food...

That's about it. I have no doubt the roads will not dissappoint this year!

Directions to S&S can be found on their website:

Thanks to everyone who participated in the WASSAAB Saabarbeque!

I had a great day and hope everyone else did, too. Absolutely a great drive and so glad to see everyone participate -- both the drive as well as those who could only make the Barbeque.

Special thanks to Wendell -- great spread of hamburgers, Keilbasa, chilli and beans, and to Tom Mitten, our long-distance winner, with a great salad (though I didn't get a taste at the Barbeque, I have today -- Yummy!).

Thanks for the contributions -- WASSAAB was going to pay for the grub, however S&S have refused and covered it already. Therefore, I'll be forwarding everyone's contributions ($105) along with the $500 I had set asside for the food to go to the American Heart Association -- only fitting, I believe, after Rick's new heart last year.

Perhaps we can make that the norm in future Saabarbeques!

Thanks again, and watch the WASSAAB space for upcoming events in the coming weeks and months.

Bartek, one Large "Got Boost" T-shirt coming your way. And best of luck with your coming day next week to you and your family! TWINS! Wow!

(If there were others who had asked about the T-Shirt, let me know -- lots of conversations, and donations hitting my hands toward the end of the day....).

Unfortunately my camera battery had died, so I have virtually NO pics. Anyone who took pics (Frank, Hirst, Mitten, anyone) post and share please!

As many of you know, I'll be on work travel until the end of the week, but I'll post a write-up to submit both here as well as in Nines when I get back.

Again, Thanks for coming!

Jim and Val Miller
