Forge IC'd and bumperless Vig

Lendo and I put on his Forge IC yesterday. Took about 45 minutes to get the bumper off and the new IC on. Took a drive up to the lakehouse today and snapped a few pics. Lendo had the thing up to 150 mph on 94 for a good 2 minutes chasing a C6 Vette. Right after, we pulled off and I felt the intercooler. Still cool!
The bumper is not going back on and will actually be up for sale soon. Topher is making Lendo a new bumper out of fiberglass and it should be done in a few weeks. Until then, the Vig will be bumperless.

F- on the picture skills.

How come you pulled the crash bar out of the bumper skin, just in preperation for the new bumper? Any sneak peaks at the new look?

I was wondering why the bumper skin was taken off the bumper itself... Good work, TOo bad the Vette doesn't top out at 155.

Hope the new bumper comes out nicely. Is Topher still making accommodations for larger fogs?

I put the crash bar back on for Lendo for protection since it could be a month until Topher finishes the bumper. As for a sneak peak, ask Topher. He is supposed to take some pics when he finishes the mold for the new bumper.

Lendo talked to him last night and he is adjusting the mold to fit the new fogs. I think the final demensions were 2.5 inches wider then stock and only 1 inch taller.

T really does some awesome fiberglass work. If you've never seen pics, he added some interesting details to his old 9-2X, mainly custom interior work to support his audio setup. I'll see if I can find some pics.

I toyed with the idea of doing some trim work with him, but wouldn't want to do without the stock pieces for as long as he needs them.

I chatted with him earlier and we were considering working it to incorporate circle fogs...our biggest fear is that it will look like one of the older JDM Evos. Which would not work for the Vig so I need to make sure they are recessed enough.

I usually only do smaller pieces, mainly because of time and space limitations. But I can rent a portion of the MCTC (Minneapolis Community Technical College) to do some of the work, which has allowed me to work on tweaking a Vig bumper.

And no, I wont be doing more than one, it's a pain in the ass and takes too much time. I certainly understand why Kevin Yankton sold off his molds. And he was much more talented than me.

That stuff was relatively simple, as it all was recessed into area the clock used to reside. The kick plate speaker holders were a bit more difficult, I had help on those. So I thought the Vig bumper would be too. SOOOOOO not the case.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the paint match. The surround for the screen and the climate control knobs is the OEM color and material (for the 9-2x). But as you can see, where the DIN is, was all molded (used to be HVAC vents) and the color was ever so slightly darker. Really only noticeable in certain light conditions.
