You know I was just thinking..... your going through all of this effort for us, and although I really appreciate it, I'm feeling torn because I want to believe Nick really does care and has done all he can do.

If your successful in this, even at 1500 for the whole kit on my 3 door NG900..., delivered to my front door; I'm not going to feel very happy about Genuine really putting their best effort in this. Especially if he could have helped.

I just want to believe that Nick has our best interest as SAAB enthusiast and means well. Heaven knows I spent enough money buying parts from Genuine, and really appreciate the service. For that reason, I buy parts from Genuine some times even though I know they are more expensive than others. Especially because I know Nick will stand by his word, and make it right.

So guess I'm sort of cheering you on, while at the same time I'm hoping Nick's right about the high cost of shipping.

good luck ...., I think.

Oceanfreight quotes. A little outdated and the exchange rate has gotten worse.

1cubic meter ( Will be about one kit ) $660.00
2 " " 2-2,5 kits $850.00
3 " " 3-4 kits $1125.00

Then you have to repackage them and ship back out to individual customers.
$200 Or so for truck freight. Plus whatever labor and packing supplies. Maybe more if you have them deliver to a home. Count on losing at least one to shipping damage along the way too.

BTW this is the same guy that wanted me to "give him a kit"
I strive to give great products at a good value while keeping high quality support for the products. (we do not hide behind a PO box. )

*****THIS PRICE IS $195 LESS THEN GENUINESAAB'S RETAIL VALUE!!!WITHOUT SHIPPING COSTS!!!!!

16+ KITS..........................................$1,000.00
SHIPPING:$700.00
TOTAL:$1,700.00
*****THIS PRICE IS $295 LESS THEN GENUINESAAB'S RETAIL VALUE!!!WITHOUT SHIPPING COSTS!!!!

****** I HAVE NOT YET CONTACTED REALCAR WITH THE MANUFACTURERS QUOTE ON SHIPPING YET, BUT IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE CHEAPER DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME SHIPMENT INTO ONE PORT WHILE THE SHIPPING TO EACH HOUSE WOULD BE THE SAME.REALCAR WIL BE CONTACTED ABOUT A REDUCED SHIPPING RATE******

nick, what the deal with you???why are you pushing my quote down like its nothing???poeple wanted a break on the price and i found the break...im sorry if you feel like im taking ur sales away...but i jsut want a decent $ on this kit to just like everyone else......

If you consider the prices you have quoted, they are similar to the Genuine Saab prices..ESPECIALLY considering if the kits are shipped via Oceanfreight they WILL need to be repackaged and sent to each person's house. That will be very expensive.

Considering the prices are soo close to Genuine Saab's quoted price and I would rather have the support from his company, I would rather go with him. IMHO of course.

Just a thought...if your really interesed in getting good prices and good products, perhaps it will be better to find a US company that manufacture perferrably a polyurethane kit, so that it will be more durable, and we won't have to pay outrageous prices for shipping overseas.

#13 ·
I would agree that the prices look very similar if you add in someone to package, reship, and advise.

Blaque.., your idea of having a US manufacturer is a good idea, but I guess someone has to buy the first kit or mold to start from somewhere.

I'm just surprised that some of the more popular SAAB distributors haven't already considered this. If not by at least partnering up to some degree and spit out something unique.

Nick if your reading...., I'm still your customer, just had my doubts after seeing the delta quoted here from 3k down to 1900. But then again, I still haven't heard a price on that Viggen look kit.

I believe Nick probably has the solution, but the market has to be there to make the price worthwhile doing.

After building up a car's performance potential, especially with the current craze to be unique, it's just sad that distributors haven't addressed a way to put on a new look. I guess the New Gen folks got missed for styling.

My quest continues....

Blaque_out...where's that other kit you talked about?

COMMON GUYS!! YOUR READIN THE QUOTE WRONG!! LOL!

THE PRICE THAT CAME FROM REALCAR THAT WAS $1,900.00 IS INCLUDING THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING!!! AND THE REALCAR QUOTE FOR $1,800.00 AS WELL ( IF WE GET 16 PEOPLE!)

GENUINESAAB.COM QUOTED THE PRICE $1,995 WITHOUT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING!!! AND $1,900.00 IF WELL GET 5 POEPLE.. WITHOUT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING COST!!

AS OF GETTING A KIT FROM A MANUFACTURER HERE IN THE USA.. NOBODY MAKES ONE.. THIS KIT IS THE ONLY ONE AVIALABLE FOR THE USA CUSTOMER TO BUY, REALCAR RELEASED IT FOR IMPORTING TO USA!.

**NICK, HOW ABOUT THIS: WE CAN DROP THIS BODYKIT AND ONLY ORDER THE SIDE SKIRTS FROM REALCAR... AND THEN ORDER THE VIGGEN FRONT BUMPER FROM YOU.... I REALLY WOULD PREFERE BUYING THAT KIT RATHER THEN THE FULL BODY KIT... BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE MOUNTING ISSUES ON EACH SEPERATE CAR....

ITS BECAUSE KIDS DONT BUY THE SAAB.. THEY NEVER SEEN A CUSTOMIZED SAAB... THERE NOT REPRESENTED AT ANY SHOWS

I don't know man.. im gonna stop.. doin all this work for nothing... for people to lead me on to buying.. then sayin its too close to genuinesaab's price.... when his quote doesnt even include the $700 shipping costs....I don't know if you are not understanding??or not being serious??

I'm only 17 years old and i really should be doing other things sides this......
nick coudl yuo please still quote the viggen fornt bumper for us...

#18 ·
I understand what your talking about, and to be totally honest....I doubt your going to get any more than a few people to buy a kit at the same time. You may be better off purchasing it alone, as you may be waiting a while for others to come around.

DUDE!

Don't be so disheartened by this experience. Not every effort is successful and you can't expect everyone to agree with you on this matter when the numbers are so close (on a percentage basis you're looking at a best-case 10-15% difference, and that doesn't take technical help and insurance into account) AND we're talking about bypassing someone who, by all accounts, has been a tremendous friend and supporter to the SAAB Enthusiast community.

What these numbers show me is that, if anything, there's a modest profit being made - emphasis on MODEST - by Nick. And said profit has to cover all overhead, i.e. techical support, insurance, etc.

Overall his prices are extrememely fair - compare what he charges for the Speedparts intakes for example to what other on-line retailers charge - up to a 50% difference!

Just my $.02

dude ..

thats exactly why i got pissed!

those quotes made by both companies are TOTAL DIFFERENT!!

Nick's quote DOESN'T INCLUDE SHIPPING!!! SHIPPING IS $650.00

REALCAR DOES INCLUDE SHIPPING!! AND IT STILL BEATS NICK'S PRICE !!!

SO. INSTEAD OF THINKING ITS 15% PROFIT, ITS REALLY NOT. IF YOU FACTOR NICK'S SHIPPING ITS GOING TO BE CLOSE TO 100% DIFFERENCE

COMMON GUYS.. I DOTN CARE IF YOU SAY NO.. BUT AT LEAST READ THE THING RIGHT MAN..

AND WITH SUPPORT... UR BUYING FROM THE MANUFACTURER!!! NICK GETS HIS INFORMATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER!!! THEY CREATED THE KIT THEY CAN ANSWER ANYTHING..!!!!!!

*** IM NOT TRYING TO DISS NICK AT ALL ... ITS BUSSINESS, THERE NO EMOTIONS INVOLVED... I REALLY THINK HE WOULD DO THE SAME THING IF HE WAS IN MY POSITION.... NICKS A GREAT GUY, A ASSET TO THE SITE.. BUT HES A DISTRIBUTER.. THE ONLY WAY YOU GUYS WANT THE BEST DEAL, THE BEST PRICE, AND THIS GOES FOR ANY GROUP BUY.. GO TO THE MANUFACTURER!! THEY MASS PRODUCE, AND CHEAPLY TOO!!!
I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY IM STIIL POSTING REALLY.. YOU GUYS PROBABLY WONT EVEN GET TO THIS POINT IN THE MESSAGE....

Lol..dude your still forgetting the fact that they'd have to repackage each kit to ship to our door. Plus im sure that shipping price isn't to your door, just for ocean freight.

Thats going to up the price man, plus if there's any problems, you'll need to return the kit to Sweden...not to Missouri which will cost even more money.

But nonetheless its up to the buyer if they want to contribute to this Group Buy. Start a list if you want thats totally cool...and if people are interested, they'll post.

I don't think im going to be able to drop $1800 on a kit for a while.

#22 ·
actually the kit was priced in at $700 added to the the total amount of the kit........

TO YOUR DOOR SHIPPING FROM SWEDEN!

The instimated amount for shipping quoted by REALCAR is at $200.00 each, just for shipping and packaging to the NYC port..

i added another $500 to the door with repackaging... which is kind of rediculous...

** i took the total cost of $700.00 shipping from Nick's estimate.. which way over...

JUST THE KIT FROM REALCAR IS $1,100.00 WITHOUT SHIPPING
THE KIT FROM GENUINESAAB.COM IS $1,900 WITHOUT SHIPPING

I think I'd like this kit....for me to poop on!

Seriously, though...there are all sorts of things wrong with this kit from a design standpoint that just make my eyes hurt. (No offense, RCM!)

* The downforce wings are useless mustaches on a Mona Lisa. They should have just made duct ports that could be routed into the wheel well, like on the very cool looking side skirts...although I bet these are just for show.
* The front lip under the lights is way too pronounced and looks like a pouty toddler sticking out its lower lip. That might be a function of the color, though. The black car looked way better.
* The air dam setup looks designed to scoop small woodland creatures into the car's gaping mouth. That's a little too risotto for me...and, obviously, for lots of other Saab owners.
* Baby's got too much back. That ass-end is ENORMOUS, way out of proportion to the rest of the car. It only almost looks right because they stuck two tail pipes out of it to try to bring it back into scale. Can you imagine how ludicrous that would look with a stock tailpipe, or even with a grapefruit launcher glasspack?

The wing, I can live with. The side skirts are actually ok. Both of those with a Viggen front and back would look Schweet....But the rest of the package is an absolute horror show...

So price really isn't the main issue. If it looked totally amazing, and was made out of poly, more people would drop $1,500 on it.
