you will most likely have to use a breaker bar with the external torx to remove the carrier as your impact gun might have some difficulty in removing it.

I have experienced this same thing on two 9-5's that I have done with Nick's downpipe/cat. I, too, was looking elsewhere for the problem thinking that there is no way the new cat has failed....now...
