New Feature question/suggestion...

I was perusing a different forum and noticed a cool feature called a "Shout Box."

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubb...Number=1016654 (located on the right side of the thread text area)

I think this is a cool way for forum members to interact on a more immediate level than posting threads/topics. I figure it would be more wise to limit the characters to something small and Twitter-like; e.g. 120 characters or less.

What say you all?

Might be cool but can easily see this getting luca'd and turning to crap.

That's interesting. We sort of having something like that now in the iSpy feature which scrolls new posts as they're made. However, this might be cool, too.

The shout box is a feature of the Portal program the web admin is using to host the page. As far as I can see, the site you saw it uses UBB Threads which is completely different from what we have here.

I couldn't agree more that it'd be a great addition, I just don't see it technically possible. On the other hand, I never thought it would be technically possible to drive the same car for 1.000.000 miles, and AGAIN I was proven wrong!

And yeah, aireeca is right. The iSpy feature is really cool!

I was told that if I think I can cover 11.000 miles in 30 days I'm dreaming. Who says I'm not...

How is iSpy different than hitting the "New Post" button?

I'm not the best person to answer this because I don't know all the fancy tech terms.

Here goes:

iSpy is dynamic. Someone makes a post, it automatically appears in the scroll.

New post is static. You have to do the refreshing instead of the site.
