Changing of User Names

We have had a request from 3 members to change user names. I want to get the forums opinion.

1 member's handle was based on a company. I didn't even know and figured it was just a New England thing.

1 member wishes to not have the members name as a handle. I see no issue and think this is a good idea, it has been done before for GA.

1 member has a new car, and doesn't wish to have his handle reflect his previous car. This seems ok since the name will basically be the same.

This is not an April fools thread, so keep that stuff elsewhere. Does anybody feel this would alter their day to day lives on this forum?

Would anybody be greatly confused?

I think it would be cool as long as it resembles the old user name. I wouldnt mind changing mine either

That is one of my concerns.

Members that have been posting for quite some time wanting to up and change names. Legit, give me an example.

If so, we should have an official change day. Change everyone that wants to be changed, and move on.

I don't think the new name should have to be similar to the old one, but out of convenience for a couple weeks, keep the avatar the same and put the old name in the sig for reference.

PS- I'm probably in for this too. When I signed up, I didn't go over the members list. If I knew there was already a JK I would have picked something else.

I want to change mine to Zaphod Beeblebrox.*

Srsly tho, does not matter to me, so long as we know who it is in the end -- prevent confusion as much as possible.

Well considering I know the first one just by the clues, I'd say it's no problem with me... I'm sure we'll all figure it out. We survived with GA, JK, and a couple other changes in the past.

These make sense to me, I like the idea of Change Day. I wanted to shorten mine, put it to a vote, and then the forum went down so it never got done

We need to see how the virus reacts out of the lab environment first.

Since I am usually "greatly confused" anyway, I see no reason not to allow the change!

Who gives a dam, if they want their name changed so be it. My user name on saabcentral was 9-3aero for a while because my dad had one way back when. Didn't post much at all, just simple questions here and there. I sent one of the mods a formal request to change my user name a year later to either Mr.Boost or Moreboost, and the rest is history....
