Mandate a price in classified postings

Any way we could pass this into "law."

I hate feeler posts. It's a waste of time to the viewer and the seller.

If I see a post that says make an offer on these wheels.

I make an offer of, let's say $400. I then have to wait for the person to respond; which is usually something like, "I was looking for more."

Argh.

I think, price and location should be mandated.

This isn't eBay.

I feel that Feeler posts in general are stupid. Set a price and post them for sale. A feeler is to see if people will pay as much as you want. Well post what you want and see!

But as for regular for-sale ads, I don't know that a price is necessary.

agreed about the feeler postings. Either you want to sell it or you don't. price and location should be posted, always as well. I will make an announcement.

Apparently, my suggestion does not carry as much weight as your's Topher.

https://www.saablink.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19518

I guess its because of your MOD status.

Your thread doesn't have starred ratings.

Mine does.

That means mine carries more weight.

not exactly... I just never happened to look at Tboys thread when he posted it. though it seems he is in agreement too with the rules we just came up with, they seem fairly commonsense

I seriously recommend locking threads without this info. Not for good, but until the info can be added. I see threads get about 10 posts of people adding their 2 cents about wanting photos and a price, it kinda clutters up the first page until people either lose interest in the ad, or the person adds the info.

I've seen it done this way on other forums and it helps keep the repetitive price out of the threads.

On the Z forums, if a for sale thread is made, pertinent info MUST be posted or the thread is automatically deleted within 24 hours of the admins warning of its deletion.

Thats a bit strict, but it works.

It asks for the sellers name, location, price, etc etc.

Just an example.

I agree with pricing being listed on cars for sale, however i think there should be some flexibility with parts cars where it would be a severe pain to price out and list every part on the car, for a few things this wouldn't be as bothersome.

How about...

If it's well known that the part for sale is under 20 bucks or so you don't have to post a price.

I like the rule....

Well next time I'll PM you since you seem to be very good at "git er done!!"

As for parting out cars, if you go through the trouble oflisting out the parts that are available, then it shouldn't be too hard to add a price as well. If someone is listing a whole parts car I think its reasonable to assume he/she won't list out ALL the parts and their prices; just hit the majors and let people ask about everything else.

I certainly would buy more stuff if I always knew the price and thought it was a good deal. I know what I would be willing to pay, and sometimes the make offer ads I simply don't respond to since I am afraid to offend the seller with what might be a low price to them that I assume to be reasonable.

I've seen sellers get upset over offers sent their way. When I sell I put down the price I am willing to take. If I want to make a little money, I would put down a high price and do "or best offer".

I think this new rule is good for both sellers and buyers....

Thank You DeLorean!

Prices are handy. Especially since most of us want to pay U-pull it junkyard prices on parts that are pretty hard to find.
