Had a bra on a car once: Never again. No matter how soft the felt is underneath at first, and no matter how often you clean it, dirt and grit still gets under there and ruins the paint.

There is now a product from 3M that reminds me of the old water transfer decals: clear vinyl-like product that is better suited to protecting the paint, and will NEVER get dirt under it. Almost like a permanent clear bra, and you'd never notice unless you were really looking for it.

At British Car Days in Richmond, Va. last year I noticed that all the Lotus Elises had it. Probably factory installed. I'm seriously considering it for the two classics after having them repainted this and last year, and the GTO before it gets too dinged up. The 9-5 Aero is a lost cause until I get the facia and hood repainted.

Alot of the Subaru guys get that stuff b/c of the GREAT paint Subaru uses.

I really can only speak for 1 installer and whatever product he uses; but it always turns out great and does a great job at protecting the paint.

9000 aeros come with that stuff factory on the side skirts

seriously though i have a bra for a 9000 if you want it. I used it after i wrecked my car to hide the damage.

I only see them good for hiding a wrecked car, or protecting from chips on long road trips. Thats it!

cars were meant to be driven, I dont see the point in covering up your paint from tiny rock chips if you're going to cover it up with an ugly bra instead, but to each their own. clear bras on the other hand, those are nice

just don't buy the Factory Plastic Ones, they should be called hood scratchers instead of hood protectors
