turbo wrap

Has anyone ever wrapped there turbo with a heat shield , does it work ? I see alot of other cars with wrapped turbos but not a saab

Keeps the heat in the exhaust system, and not all around the engine bay, around the things you want coolest, like the radiator and intercooler. Partially the same reason you wrap the other exhaust system components with heat wrap too, to keep the heat in the manifold or downpipe, to promote those gasses flowing in the only direction they can or should. A higher temperature system is going to take up more volume, and that can be a good thing, but you don't want to exceed that threshold where you end up hurting yourself and then start raising EGT's to higher, unsafe levels.

That's just kinda what i figure in the logic behind it..

For this low power of an application (less than like... 700...) the only benefit you'll see is you can keep nearby things from melting and keep some heat out of the heat exchangers, or nearby rubber radiator hoses, etc.

But yes, at some point the extra heat in the exhaust can help turbo spool and exhaust scavenging, but this is one of "last-one-percent" sort of things.
