Clutchnet Stage 2 clutch issues

Has anyone who has been running one of these for a little while had any issues?

I installed one with a Viggen p/p summer 2011. For the next year, I hardly beat on the car at all because of how terrible the blowby was and so I babied it until summer 2012 where we pulled the motor and replaced some rings. Since then, I've had smaller issues and so again I've been babying the car til recently. Running more or less the same tune I was running 2 years ago, I took the car out and realized it's slipping in 3rd and 4th.

Seals were changed when the engine was out so I don't think anything leaked down into the transmission. Everything looks dry.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with early failure on these. My Spec stage 3 last for almost 5 years which included several trips to the drag strip and hundreds of tuning pulls. I've been so busy I haven't even had the chance to tune the thing since the engine has been refreshed so I'm a little bummed I need a new clutch already.

I don't have direct experience, but I know that one of the reasons Nick switched to these from the Specs was because of their milder street feel. (The Spec Stg. 3 chatters and bucks until you get the hang of it; I'm not sure that I ever did... ) I'm not sure if the milder nature is due to a less grabby puck compound that might tend to lead to faster wear.

mine only lasted around 7-8000 miles, but i slipped it all winter long because of nick's shitty rear sport mount banging around. Got a new rear race mount put in and, the clutch now can't take anything much past idle.

Yeah same here. Definitely no different than with the Spec. I'm just wondering if there was a bad batch of them or what. I was somewhat skeptical because the rating was only 400lbft for the stage 2 but I stuck with it because it was supposedly more drive able. Honestly though I didn't have any issues with the stage 3 being unfriendly and I've daily driven my car for 6 years averaging at least 15k a year.

Get a Spec stage 3+ (full disk)

It will take anything you got for it, And drives and feels great.

No noise, no jumping and bucking around.

My spec stage 1 puck lasted 2000 km's (fuck all)

Puck disks suck to drive in a street car anyway

Edit;
And I broke my puck disk in nice and easy (1000klm) and it still shit it's self

I really didn't have any issues or annoyances with the stage 3 Spec and it lasted long which is what I cared about the most. I wanna say it slipped when I tried out E85 but I think what I was feeling was actually wheel spin after all.

I may look into the stage 3+ though.. I work at RallySport Direct now and receive a pretty nice discount on parts from most manufacturers including Spec

How much torque are you putting through it?

Roughly how much torque are you running? I did 330lbft uncorrected at altitude on a Mustang and 350lbft on a Dynojet closer to sea level. But I think probably a bit more with tuning and a ton more on E85.

Well even so thanks for the input! These clutch net ones are still fairly new to the community so its just good to know how they're holding up in general. I may purchase a stage 3+ or even 4 but I don't know. Not changing it anytime soon because I don't race around in my car as much as I used to anyway. And it still holds fine in second.

Its also a DD. Hasn't been launched, dragged or autox. Has seen a fair share of "hold on to your underwear."

My only complaint is the sprung hub is a bit noisy. At low revs it kind of sounds like a diesel. More for the people not as good with manual, its not very forgiving compared to stock. My friend mike has the viggen clutch setup and it starts grabbing just off the floor, and is fully engaged where the clutchnet is. The clutchnet has a very fine line between grabbing and engaged, but that's expected with a more aggressive 6 puck setup.

Go the Stage 3+ (full disk). It is the ultimate street clutch set up

You will love it 100% It will take anything you got for it .... and is super smooth.

I think yellow jet has got one in his Vig too

But.... It's gonna hurt your back pocket. Lolz

JZW was the best price for me.... Shipped to Oz

Ok that seems to be the general consensus. It looks like a nice clutch for sure. The smoothness factor I really don't worry about too much. This car has gotten so raw in so many other ways that I'm actually looking for a second car to DD. Oh the irony.

As I mentioned above I should be able to get a nice discount through my work so I'll be banking on that. How much, I don't know. Probably close to what JZW is paying to be honest.

Same here I haven't been to the strip or even really raced ANYONE since its been in.

Once I have another DD, the more noise the better. I don't care what it does because I'll have a backup and won't care anymore. If its grabby and I have to launch it at every light, even better
