B234 in '94 NG900

I found a good 2.3t in a '97 9000CSE (Car is 95% Complete) at the local junker, and i was originally throwing the idea around of the internals of the B234 in my B204 in place of the ludicrously priced Abbot Racing "2.3 Stroker Kit", until i read that instead of shorter rods, Saab increased the cylinder deck height to compensate, so now a direct motor swap is the only option if i want a larger displacement by an increased stroke of .04in (12mm).

Now more questions come up, and payday is coming up fast, so before i make the decision of buying it, or saving the money aside, i would like to see what others have to say.

My concerns are addressed below.

Would the motor mount right up
Would the OBDII motor work with my OBDI car
Will the swap even be logical
Affordable stroker kit available, would rather run a stroker

obdII will work, as you use the wiring harness from the ng900 , motor will mount right up. you will find various sensors that will need to be swapped i.e crank positioning sensor and whatnot, just to accomadate the ng900 harness, its not a big problem. the 2.3 would be nice for a ng900 that was my original plan but things fell through with my roomates r.i.p'd 9-5 and i sold him my b234 dirt cheap

Not sure what/where you've read that but....the block and cylinder heads are identical between the B204 and B234 engines. Only difference is the rotating internals.

You can "stroke" a 2.0 with just the crank, rods and pistons from a 2.3.

Thank You though!

I've got a 2.3L out of a 94 CS w/JEs in my 96 900. You'll have to swap the timing cover, accessories, oil pan, intake and exhaust manifolds, and I'm pretty sure the plate between the block and trans.

I have tried to find an answer like this for the B205 engine; crank, rod and pistons from a B235. Is this also true for the B205 engine?
