stage 1 tune..or stage 2

Im interested in gettin my 97 vert tuned. it is basically stock other than the open intake and 2.5 inch exhaust turbo back with no converter.

I have read all about the taliaferro tunes and am aware that stage one is for stock hardware and stage two is for better exhaust systems and intercooler combinations.

considering my custom exhaust and intake what is best for the car.

bte its 2.0 turbo and im running 91 no ethanol or better

first question....

is the car a true stage 0? meaning no issues everything like new, perfect operating condition?

if so you might as well go with stage 2, because stage 1 would just delay your bump to stage 2.

It's not much. IIRC, it's something like 15 psi...

Find a tuner, look at the HP output and go from there.

stage 1 tune..or stage 2

3" downpipe? If it is then go for stage 3. There really isn't a huge gain between stage 1 and 2 anyways.

Otherwise stage 2 should keep you happy for a little while.

even with stage 2 and basic stage 3 the numbers are pretty much known. no need for the dyno really. its when you get past that and really agressive that you start needing serious tuning.

Neither, it would cost you less money to get Mike D to come out there and road tune your car. If you can get 4 or 5 people who need work or tunes he would come out and do them all.

Running Mike D's Stage 2 with a Genuine Saab Open Air Intake and a Viggen intercooler on my T25. its fun. once I get my downpipe though it will be worth it.

Thanks for the plugs guys! NY is not to far away from me, and if a few people were to get together i would be happy to take a day and head out there!

talk with the people who are setting up your car, and read/ask around on how the car should be set up for what you want from it. there is alot more to a tune than just peak power output!
