AMS Oil Trans Fuid - Manual Trans

Ok guys, anyone every try AMS Oil MTF?

I just became an AMS Oil dealer and figured I'd order some up for the cars.

Here are the two choices...

1. Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 5W-30

Formulated for maximum protection in syncromesh transmissions

Designed for manual transmissions and transaxles with synchromesh systems that require light viscosity, non-extreme-pressure fortified oil. Additive technology provides proper friction characteristics for smooth shifting. The ultimate in gear and bearing protection & outperforms motor oils in manual transmissions.

2. Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90

Formulated for demanding manual transmission and transaxle applications

Formulated specifically for maximum protection in the most demanding manual transmission and transaxle applications where an extreme pressure GL-4 gear lube is specified, including those where high horsepower/high torque engines and towing or heavy loads increase transmission stress.

Thoughts?

Wisconsin=Cold =5-30Syncromesh, Heavy weight oils are for south or almost south of the border. 5th gear runs dry in cold climates with heavy weight oils. Not so good unless you get the oil hot & thin quick like in the south west.

That's what I figured, but I wanted to double check. The cars this would be going into would be mainly driven in summer, and possibly AutoX'd. I figured 'd start with the Synchromesh 5W30 and see how it works.

Would you use that in an SS as well?

Harvey is the man when it comes to transmissions, so go with his suggestions. I don't know anything except how to shift them.

But, for the record, a 5W-30 oil is very roughly about a 68W-84 GEAR oil in raw viscosity, so the difference is not as extreme as it might appear from the numbers.
