My clutch sounds like a wookie :-0

Hey there mofo's,

Those that don't know, I recently installed a clutch net 6 puck disk with viggen pp.

I was reversing out my driveway the other day and the car made a "wookie" type noise.

I'm putting it down to the disk being cold. It only makes the noise in reverse and only when the car is cold.

The clutch seems great in Forward gears.

Anybody else had clutch disk noise?

The chatter is very minimal, It's great, love it. I thought it was going to be a lot worse.
You can actually (once you get the hang of it) drive with no chatter. It's easy, you need to accelerate thru the clutch pedal "let out" if you know what I mean.

I've had the disk in 2 weeks and I have the hang of driving it. I can drive with no chatter.

The problem is (maybe it's not a problem) it makes a noise in reverse. I've seen vids on u-tube with cars that have performance clutch disks making noises. Not a bad noise, I think it's the disk contacting the flywheel and just the material letting out a deep scream like sound.

It's really great to drive with this disk. Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake.
My 500hp Freightliner Truck also has a puck clutch in it so maybe I've had a bit more practice than most.

I'll upload a video of the noise

Did you have the flywheel resurfaced? Aside from (like the others have said) puck cluch chatter is common. Personally, id live the way of the jedi and always let the wookie win!

Both SPEC clutches I've had in my 900 have been noisy as well. Only the stg 1 (non metallic) in my 9000 Aero is quiet.

Cool, 10 speed is an old pattern. It must be an old truck. Is it a crunch box? Can ya' change gears no clutch?
Mine's an 18 speed

You sound like you know what I'm talking about mcrowley.

It's not chatter,

I think it's just the metallic disk contacting the flywheel.

It's Chatter and I bet it will get worse as the clutch breaks in completely.Mine sounds exactly like that only with more frequency.

The only noise my 6 puck makes is a rattling sound from the sprung hub, sounds like a diesel at low revs and letting off in gear above 2k.

I can get it to back out and move in first without making any noise, but it takes lots of practice. I am at 6k on my viggen now with 6 puck and it is much better in first, but still very tricky in reverse.
