BOV upsets **now w/a solution**

ok so in the past couple days i have become very unhappy with my BOV
I stretched the spring in my piston bov, and spool time did decrease (i spooled earlier) but at the same time, light throttle/boosting i got some comp surge/turbo flutter

i am thinking of going to a synapse synchronic bov
though i would like others input

is there a diff bov you would recommend?

im not trying to break the bank either, but i want something thats pretty good

I was concerned about "flutter" with my turbo as well.

I get light flutter under 5lb of boost. Anything above that and my BOV vents.

I was told that flutter at that pressure is not going to hurt the turbo. But I am no expert. I just go on what people tell me.

I run a forge single piston ,blue spring and 3 shims. It holds 30lb and vents 5lb.

I have also heard that the SSQV bov's flutter worse than the forge piston units.

I run the Stratmosphere Hyperboost. It basically is a beefy all-aluminum version of the stock Bosch valve with a single piston instead of a diaphragm. I run the recirc side open. Audi guys love them, and it's super reliable. I take it apart and clean/grease it with synthetic grease every year or so. They can be picked up for under $100.

I had a Forge 004 dual piston for a while and had some of the same issues. I have the old Tial, which worked like a dream. For short money, you might be able to find one from someone upgrading to the Q. (I'm not sure you need to release all that much excess boost from the system, just enough not to cause issues...)

This is the valve I pretty much have

gotta remember though that I have that gt30 pushing tons of air
so my valve is a lil less than adequate

Gotcha. I think Stratmosphere sells stiffer springs for their valves. The TiAL is definitely nice.

Tial Q if I were buying one. Or the Procharger race valve. But that will break the bank.

the bad thing about the Tial Q is that it's a 50mm bov
and the charge pipe on our cars is a 50mm pipe

i think im going to be settling with a synapse synchronic
i have yet to find one bad review on the damn thing... (quickest reaction, holds most boost, guaranteed no comp surge)
unless someone can persuade me to something else

The new Tial Q is just over that, maybe $225. The old ones, if you can find them, are maybe $150.
