Its alive

After a half year quit time in the garage the car was brougth back alive yesteday with some new goodies and is now ready to hit the roads

Gave up the idea of hunting for huge power and converted the cars turbo back to roughly the size it was 3 years ago. Current turbo is a holset hx40super with mfs compressor wheel. 68mm turbine and #19 T4 turbine housing. It was close of being a plug and play unit, but as we know nothing ever fits, so had to redo the compressor outlet, DP flange and oil feed, but nothing major. Comparision between the old and the "new" and some other pictures

Turbo 2012
Seems to run just fine and will take it to test run today, if I get the paper work in order.

Futher changes will happen, but more of them later, just glad now that the car is back on the road and out from the garage.

Depends what you classify as huge power, everything is subjective But should reach some ponies over 700bhp. Dont have a dyno paper from this exact turbo on a small displacenment engine, but here is one paper from a 2JZ engine drifter car
http://forum.vastaheitto.com/index.p...ach=5702;image
Aim ofcourse with that is to light up the wheels and is the reason, why the curve is shaped as it is. At higher revs the compressor runs out of steam, but since its a 3l engine.
The non billet and 65mm turbine resulted to this year 2009.

"Classify as huge power"

I'm going to be making about half the ~660whp of that one graph and that is a big upgrade over stock.

Vigge, almost messaged you yesterday to see where you ran off to. Glad to see you're back. I assume rest of the engine specs remain the same from after the big build?

I haven't seen any of your data in so long. When do YOU expect to see 2bar boost on your motor? I'm contemplating upgrading compressor side of mine..

Gone I havent been, but in reading mode has been the status, but thanks for the welcome. Work keeps me busy and have spent more than "plenty" of hours in the vig driving across this country past half a year and have not therefore been too motivated to speak of them during my free time Got the hobby car stamped to street use today and after a quick spin everything seems Ok. More driving tomorrow.

You say Vigge you gave up "hunting more power".

Did you get to a point where you could go no more ?

Drove few standing mile runs today just for testing since the car is far from tuned, but since event was near by was better go there than to hit the highway
First run resulted to 280km/h with 1.7bar boost and a nice 10AFR
Did not want to adjust two thing at once, so decided to lift boost and hope the upper part of the map was leaner, but nope same stuff there. Due to the additional boost the performance was better but for some odd reason 5th hopped out just when boost went max...and rpm as a result sky rocketed. 9600rpm was read from the log, but seems to be just fine and drives fine. Next event is after three weeks and plan is to have the car mapped by then, assuming no damage is to be found.

IIRC last year's run was over 190mph

Lets see if he breaks the 200mph barrier

200mph has been the goal and record so far 193, but not sure if this turbo will ever reach the 200mph limit. Iam happy if I can beat my old record but lets see what happens when the boost is upped .5bar and afr and timing optimized.
