Engine mounts

Wad up mofo's

I'm getting everything together for a stage 5 .
I want to make sure I'm doing shit right.
Here's some engine mount questions.

Q1: Is the GS rear sport engine mount going to vibrate the shit out of me and my car? Or is it as they say "like an automatic at idle".

Q2: Is installing a rear torque dampener just as effective as the GS mount?

Q3: If so, How do I make a Dampener

Q4: Is while the gearbox is out the way to change the rear mount?

Q5: Do I need to do all three mounts?

Cheers

B-I-A-T-C-H-Y, in your order:
A1:No, it won't vibrate harder than you AA dildo;
A2epends on the application. Stick with the proven GS product;
A3: search around, if you wanna go the hardest way;
A4: yes and no, you can swap the rear mount with the gearbox on;
A5: to hold the engine/gearbox, yes, of course! If you ask about upgrading them, for Stage5 I would go with harder mounts

In your face, homeboy!

I had all 3 uprated "sport" engine/tranny mounts from GS and there is a slight vibration... It will definitely bring out the interior squeaks/rattles but it's a whole new car with those mounts so it didn't bother me at all

Q1: Is the GS rear sport engine mount going to vibrate the shit out of me and my car? Or is it as they say "like an automatic at idle".
no, but the race mount will

Q2: Is installing a rear torque dampener just as effective as the GS mount?
if that the only thing you do, no but it works pretty well

Q3: If so, How do I make a Dampener
you'll have to get creative, but essentially it will take some creativity on your part, you can easily get one on ebay

Q4: Is while the gearbox is out the way to change the rear mount?
the rear mount is pretty easy to change

Q5: Do I need to do all three mounts?
for stage 5 power you'll break most of the mounts in no time, if you want max traction get the "race" rear mount

heres a link to the dampener gs makes and the one i was telling you about 8valvegrowl made https://www.saablink.net/forum/perfor...-9-3/55378.htm and a better one for 8valvegrowl https://www.saablink.net/forum/perfor...-9-3/13293.htm pretty simple and you can do it yourself for cheap.

and if you fill all the mounts it will rattle and vibrate at idle and take off. try to find a video with another car. iven been in hondas, nissians, toyotas, etc and everytime the mounts are filled its a rattle snake. doesnt matter what car its in.

and the rear mount can be done but its a pain in the d.

Rear mount isnt all that bad, just need to jack the motor up very high to get it out/in..It helps if you have all the other mounts off first but not necessary

How the hell do you fill these stock mounts with any poly? I didn't think it was possible when I looked at the pics of the mounts.

trans mount can easily be filled check this out ImageShack Album - 3 images a little messy but its worth it. its a big difference over stock.

i also filled some strut mounts for ng900 i think you can see one in the pic. i had to remove some rubber first then i filled it with the poly.

the front engine mount can be filled too. but you have to remove most of the rubber wheil keeping the hole centered. once its out fill it up. simple

i spent alot less than buying mounts. and i did it myself feels good

I don't have one, but mostly because of a guy who posted that it made his car feel "like a massey fergeson tractor at idle". : -)

YMMV

theres a honda with filled mounts.

i would fill the trans mount, and add a dampner if it shakes too much remove dampner for dd use. the trans mount doisnt add shaking in my car but it feels solid. and i have chain tensioner deleted on b234r

Have the deterioration issues with the sport rear mount been ironed out?

Otherwise, has anyone ran the sport trans, sport engine and race rear mount combination? Don't really mind the vibration, as my trans mount blew, then the engine mount. Replaced both of those with GS sport mounts and then about 300 miles later the rear mount failed. Really sick of my "limp dick" engine. It was fine until the last mount I didn't replace died.

I believe the issue with the rear mounts have been addressed.. The older versions were prone to abnormal deterioration

i ran the sport engine mounts and trans mount. blew up the rear. than put in the solid race rear mount and a phenominal difference. vibrations arent really that bad, u just hear all the internals of the trans chattering through the body of the car, since theres nothing to dampen the noise.

i blew out old and new ones. i think there is a torque limit for them, id say 400ft/lbs

Can you hear the noise all the time, or just on takeoff and/or shifting?

its louder than stock thats for sure. plus it vibrates. ive only been in one saab with all filled mounts and solid rear and it shakes the whole time just sitting in idle. when you rev it a bit it get worse but once you go over 3krpm it feels fine. for a daily i couldnt see this as practical. but if you willing to get rid comfort for slight performance its your choice.

Just out of curiosity,

If I was to leave the stock mounts in and run stage 5, Its just going to rip the shit out of the mounts and be impossible to get a gear at full noise. Right?

So, Basically I need to run
: Sport rear mount
: Sport engine mount
: Sport Trans mount

What do ya" think ?

not to thread jack I have all 3 sport mounts. when i installed them it "seemed" harder to pull out? i stalled it once or twice. a little mor vibration...or could be my exhaust rattiling off the oilpan... now for the thread Jacking...after going to stage 4 when wot if i abruptly close the throttle i could feel almost hear the engine slam back into place...now i got all the mounts thinking mine were bad...they were all fine except the trans. i put the gs ones in and it still does it.??? ive checked them three times to make sure they are all tight. any body know whats up.

Sounds like the rear mount is failed. Have you tried putting a pry bar between the trans and subframe. Then lift up, if it is failed you will no for sure.
