My exhaust sounds ricey!

I bought a used 3' turbo back pipe a few months ago. It works great but it sounds a little ricey. Is that because of my glass pack resonator?
Do I need to run with somthing like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Magnaflow...item4cfa258561
Or if anyone has any other links to what I need .
Here's some pic's of what I've got

Cheers

Any way you could post a sound clip? We would have a better idea on how to possibly fix it.

I was never a fan of my Viggen's exh note when I had a full 3in exh. I went back to 3in DP & cat then 2.5 in the rest of the way. I wouldn't mind it being a little louder but not much.

I would get some annoying resonances when I was 3in...... mine never had the fart can sound but still not a note I prefer. C900's spoil ya

c900's do have a nice burble, but the 204L in my 9-3 just plain rips at wot. No resonance at highway cruising either.

I'm trying to work out how to post a video.

I think I'm looking for more of a deeper, quieter note.
Something a bit more sophisticated
It sounds a bit "young douchbag"

I had a custom 3in made with a eBay $20 turbo muffler resonator delete and a GS downpipe with a race cat. Ran in to the same issue with resonating. I placed the glass pack a few inches from the connection from dp to the rest of the exhaust. Ive received nothing but complaments, it's loud and has a nice burble to it at idle. What's $30 bucks going to kill ya

Unless the "muffler" you have does something weird to the exhaust note, a 3" is a very deep, sinister sound on our cars with lots o burble. Hell, you can even run a straight pipe back and it sounds sexy as hell.

Only problem with the 3" is that it resonates like a mofo. I'm going to have to install a resonator somewhere in the exhaust tract otherwise I'll go crazy at 2k rpm-feels like pillows are being whacked on my ears "whumpwhumpwhumpwhump"

^^^ Yeah, what he said. With my balance chain gone the wife says "you ruined a perfectly good car". I got me some vibrations and droning now at the magical 2k. I'm better off romping on it than trying to go down the road quietly.

I have no resonance, maybe the cat makes a difference?
do you guys have cats?
and yes, the balance shaft delete + all poly mounts makes my saab sound like a baby rattle.

Can I install a short round muffler before the glasspack?
what would that do?

Yeah, I do have a cat and GS DP V2 into a Saab Sport. It didn't start to drone noticeably until I removed the balance chain and added an MP Performance intercooler. Mostly it drones on the overrun as I am slowly coasting in gear. The poly mounts certainly add to the sensation!

get rid of the glasspack. they make the noise. check out grkguys videos on his 3076 build. he has 3" and he made it using a ebay muffler. sounded great through the pc. and he has a vid with the 2.5" saab sport.
thats the 3"

and this is 2.5"
some reason the 2.5 sounds louder

i personally have the 3" dp, and 2.5" SS, with a high flow cat and it soumds nice. not ricey at all. has a deep tone.

i have no cat and get no drone! i bet the cat slows the exhaust down enough towards the hot side that it gets drone-y

edit:
and maybe having 2.5" cat back allows for more pressure to be maintained in the exhaust(post cat) causing it to drone less.?

i like how both my vids were used

i made sure my 3" exhaust was gonna be quieter that my old saabsport
the saabsport has no center res. while my 3" has a huge center res.

its also cuz the camera was set right above the tailpipe for the saabsport vs. off on the pass side for the 3" exhaust

So is the key to a quieter 3' a decent center reso?

If I got rid if my glasspack and went with a decent reso that could solve my "ricey" promblems, huh

it will def tame the exhaust much better...

my 3" exhaust is based off the GS 3" with a Vibrant straightflow rear muffler at the end

maybe just add a center res and see if that does the job. but usually a glass pack has a ricy sound
