Question Cheap/Inexpensive Upgrades?

So I've got a 99' 9-3, and I've read some posts on here about cheap performance upgrades. I have a few questions in the noob department. Now I play on getting an open air intake, as well as a bov? Now how difficult are these to install? I've never really done anything mechanical on a car, but I'm willing to learn and try.

Also are there any other cheap (being less than 300 - 400 dollar) upgrades that yield at least somewhat better performance. I also plan on getting the hatchback brace from gs as well as the subframe brace (eventually), seeing as performance upgrades are nothing when you can't control the car.

And I don't have a garage either so, really I'm just planning ahead for upgrades either within this month, or after the snow/cold season.

You may want to look into a new rear ARB. GS has em for 90, The rack braces also make a large improvement. You could also get your ecu tuned as well. There are a couple threads in the for sale section about that.

thanks chevy man, I'll have to consider the anti-roll bar. Is the installation as simple as everyone says it is?

and sadly mike I'll be at work and then out for the night tomorrow. if you're coming to carlisle next year I'll have to consider the tune then.

The rear ARB is cake, getting the old rusty bolts off is the worst part, bu tnothing a breaker bar and a torch can't handle.

Intakes and BOVs are 5-10 minute jobs, very easy. Neither really yield any performance benefit, but they do sound cool.

I think the ideal budget build is as follows:

Viggen Springs
Bilstein HD Dampers
Rear ARB
Hawk HPS pads all around
3"DP cat
Open Air Intake
T5Suite Tune

This would probably cost around $1000 all said and done and be much faster and much better handling than stock.

If I had $300-400 I would get the rear ARB and a used 3" DP. Hands down.
