Clutch Done (Well Done)

So here is the carnage from tulsa..

http://genuinesaab.com/gallery/clutchboom The rest is there.. Pretty scary.. Thats a full depth crack in the pressure ring. Have to get the box pulled part to see what is going on inside. The case is cracked and the input shaft wore on the crank. Flywheel is bent!

Done well

Wow- keep that up and they'll make you run a scattershield or blanket!
I've seen worse, but only on big block domestic iron!
Another argument for a beefed up automatic, high stall torque converter, and a tuned trans module.
Any reasons why that's not feasable?

Yeesh.

Reminds me of my friend's civic that had a clutch blow apart. Took out his fluidyne radiator, tranny, a chunk of his block and his hood .

Wow a cracked PP and a pucked disc don't mix.

Does SPEC have any kind of customer support, like, say ARP?

It's possible, I looked into it for my automatic stage 5 ng900 and it is way too expensive to justify the improvements. However, Nick probably has a much bigger budget than I do so that could always be a possibility if drag racing is the main priority.

So what are you planning to replace it with? Another one or time to move up?

That wasn't a spec disk it was an old one from sweden. It was the best combo we had available. We will have some new custom clutches soon. They just weren't ready yet..

It didn't break under power it went BANG after the line in neutral at idle. He had clutch down from 1000ft. It did slip a bit in 3rd is why he aborted.

I am trading some machine work for a cage and a scatter shield was on the list for after this race.

Impressive! Were you running the spec flywheel? Looks like it in the pictures above.

I bet that made a hell of a racket! Good to see nobody got hit with any of that shrapnel.

It gets more interesting first gear was nearly welded to the shaft. It did pull the Output shaft bearing plate from the case up against first..

The oil pan had little round shavings in it but the thrust bearings look nice.

Confused and out of $$ for this mess.

Also they hit the wrong button on the video and steve started it as he was waiting for a tow off. Does make some nice noises.

Didn't think it looked like my spec 6 puck. Hopefully you get the new ones in soon; I'm worried my two and a half year old one is gonna bite the dust as soon as I up the boost. I'm pretty easy on it and have under 15 passes at the drag strip.

In for updates on new clutches. Please.
