Red Line PowerPacks.

What do you guys think? Worth it? Seems like the one assembled for the Mini would cut the mustard for the basics.

I would like some water wetter though... Also, how much MTL fluid does the NG900/OG9-3 hold?

PS. I don't want this to turn into a brand pissing match. Just looking for a good list of products to use via a complete fluid flush to the system.

I always wonder about using "racing" oil for day to day driving...

Is it like comparing a (in terms of wear) summer-only tire (more grip, also more wear) to a all-season (less grip, longer wear)?

I just wonder if it's made to hold up to stop and go driving and all that fun stuff.

WaterWetter is nice, I use it in my 86. Don't know off the top of my head about the MTL fluid. I think there is info on GS's site?

I used RoyalPurple Racing Motorcycle oil in my 9-3 all last summer. No issues.

That power Pack looks perfect, the gearbox holds ~2 quarts (1.75 I think).

I'd go for slightly higher visc oil though. I run 5W-40 RotellaT Synth in the summer now. 5W-30 is a bit light.

So it sounds like the Mini PowerPack would do it. Hmmm...

As far as this kinda stuff standing-up to daily use. Grassroots Motorsports uses this on their daily driven occasionally tracked Mini's. That is where I got the idea from.

Regular redline is not a "racing" oil in the sense you are thinking. I have a used oil analysis of Redline 0w40 over at Bobistheoilguy.com Great additive pack for street driving/track use.

I just ran Redline 10w40 for 7000km and will have an oil analysis done shortly (which I will post). This oil is the first run I had with my stage 3+ setup and had a track day in there.

Redline is regarded as one of the best street/track oil out there. Bet protection you can get from an oil IMO. Check out the virigin oil analysis at bobistheoilguy.com and see what redline is packing compared to M1 or Royal purple.

Now Redlines pure race oils are not for the street (they state this on their website) not enough cleaning additives etc to be run for a long period of time. Purely used for a couple of races then dumped.

Cheers

Redline 0w40 oil analysis.

As for the mini power pack, I would just go with a 5w40 and the redline fuel cleaner with the MTL. This is the setup I run and its great.

What car are you putting this in?

Great info!

I started with a 1999 9-3 base. TDO4 swapped in. Crossflow IC. Stage 2 T5 suite tune.

Most of my other mods are chassis/suspension.
