turbo

Are the internals of ng900 less beefy than the 2.0 or are they the same?

This has me worried...

In most cases, boosting a somewhat high compression motor (10.5:1) without an ecu tune providing the car with the needed fuel, you are going to be leaning out and is essentially like holding an m80 in a closed fist. BOOM

I'll be very shocked if this lasts.

Yeah I really hope for your sake things hold out! But you really should look into some kind of stand alone or something if you want it to really last. Not sure how much of a beating the motor's gonna take but I guess you'll find out.

I would definitely get a wideband on there and keep the boost low (5-6psi). Do you have any way to datalog?

Once you find a way to enrich the fuel a bit then maybe use the boost controller to dial the boost up some.

Props for being adventurous!

so ... in theory if he converted to t5 and had lower compression pistons, like forged and dished pistons, this would be quite the quick little ng .... correct? ... not that i have a spare 2.3L kicking around in my yard from an n/a ng that im contemplating building lol

I have no doubts the block will hold up fine, the internals are very close to the b234R. But it needs a tune to do this. The NA ECU doesnt have fueling to run boost.

i have 2 t5 harnesses at my disposal along with a t5 ecu and dic (and a b204r)
if jzw or jak stol created a tune or could make a tune i may consider in converting to t5....eventually
but i see no reason for my car to have fuelling problems with the bigger injectors i put in

i say buy a wideband o2 sensor as well .... you will be running very rich on idle, then when you go into boost ... it will correct it temporarily, but its hard to say if it will be enough fuel to keep from leaning out further into boost .... a wideband IMO is cheap considering it gives you peace of mind knowing what is going on ..... knowledge is everything

just my opinion, that is what i would do

the injectors have a duty cycle controlled by the ecu .... if you have bigger injectors, but run the same tune, more fuel is being injected .... running propertionally rich

because the stock maps are programmed for a specific size fuel injector at a specific fuel pressure. it will most likely not be able to compensate for larger injectors, meaning very rich (possibly to the point of not running, ESPECIALLY on cold start) while at idle. you'll run rich throughout the entire rpm range, except when under boost.
