overkill for a td04? *pics inside*

I was looking to make a custom manifold for the t25 and td04s. I can either make a manifold with the exact flange position and tubular runners OR I can make a top mount like the pictures below. Basically, I just want that will flow much better, giving +10-20hp that looks decent. Is this just a dumb idea? I need opinions guys.

Sweet, but it's a bit overkill for a stock turbo on a 9000/9-3

I'm at 350whp, and JK is at 420 or so, and that's on the stock header.

What it does do for you is allow you to run much neater charge/intake piping compared to the stock position. The routing on my 9-3 is a shit show, and it wont get any better unless I go top-mount.

If you can DIY, I say go for it...but don't expect much.

yeah, I have so many bends and twist on my intake.

I'm looking for a daily driver around 260-300whp that can keep up with the evos/stis, m3s etc.

Think a td04-18t top mounted and a stage 3+ ECU with all necessary hw will do it?

Not on a 2.0

On a 2.3 an 18t will make 290whp

"Stg 3+ is pretty much maxed out, its like a stg 4 from other people. If the car is working well, it should make around 300bhp, that is maxing out the stock turbo and injectors, something like 265whp or somthing? "

Thats what John(jzw) said about my car with the stock t25 and supporting hw.

Not sure how much I would bother with a custom exhaust manifold. My own personal position on the issue is that I won't bother until I feel the desire to use an external wastegate (OK, so I already desire one, but I have to wait until I have the money to sink into the materials and the EWG). Its not really an issue of power, but I can be an issue of asthetics, an issue of making the turbo more accessable, or making a large turbo fit since there is limited space for bottom mounts, or an issue of or an issue of wanting good boost control and neeing to install an internal wastegate.

For a small internal gated turbo I don't think I'd bother unless marerials were cheap and I wanted to practice welding.

uh, i've seen a car dyno 260whp/270wtq with a T25 on an aggressive tune, on the same dyno that jessop made 420whp

you're gonna tell me that an 18t will only do 260wheel max?

LOL

Oh i see. I was thinking about getting a holset before, but I'll be driving this every day to downtown chicago for school. so I need a setup that gets decent mpg, but still really quick on the highway.

In the big turbo 9000 I get 25-27mpg combined 50/50 city/highway. Straight highway I get 32-35.

Good milage in the city because its easy to stay out of boost. Still gets up and goes just fine at low speeds too!

My 9-3 with a T25 that I drive most days gets 23mpg combined

What car of yours gets the 32-35mpg highway? It's not the 9-3 right?

Edited my post above for clarity. Yes, the 9000 gets VERY good gas milage, it got a bitt better milage with the TD04 15T and a stage 4 tune, but it has not dropped off all that much after installing the stuff for the big turbo.

There is no way an 18t is limited to 260whp. I thought you could push 300whp with that setup.
