Getting closer

My new 8" wide rims came in today, I am one step closer. I have the LSD, the new slicks, the rims, the 4.45 final drive and the last part is the ring gear, once I have that, its time to build the new tranny and give all a try.

Holset super 40 + Slicks + LSD + 4.45 gearing = ? ON a drag strip.

John

Yea, its a quiafe, the clutch is part of the rebuild too. Full metallic disk and double finger high super clamp PP. The full mettalic disk grabs harder when it gets hot, so the more you slip it, the more it wants to grab and go.

4.45 gearbox awesome for 1/4 mile. I got real tired of the highway in my 9k with that ratio. Glad to hear about your vendetta John!

Pre-edit- poor poor CV chassis . .. . .

Yea, its within 3 mph of the quiafe 6 speed in third fourth and fith gears, but does not have the over-drive. Its a full on race car pretty much, roll bar, slicks and gearing and turbo.

Its amazing how well the vert does handle, it still handles better than most of the 93's and viggens I have driven lately. It has about every suspension item it can have and with the roll bar tying it all together, that helped even more.

The slicks should fit, have not tested them yet, but had the 8" wide rims custom made so the offset goes out and not inward anymore than the stock rims do. So, the tires should not go toward the struts and should not rub and with smaller 15" rims and smaller profile 23" slicks, there should be clearance.

I have everything but the stupid ring gear that I am waiting to come in from Sweden, once that is here, its time to put it all together. I can't wait to try the LSD with short gearing with slicks and large turbo.

John

10" slicks or why the 8" rims?

Yea, the 8" rims give me the potential to go with bigger slicks and run from 8.5 to 10.5. Have not fitted them yet, waiting on the ring gear still, I will have the slicks mounted and ready to test fit soon.
