Removing muffler

How would it sound if I took the muffler off my dads 2001 9-3SE?

Is he out of town or something?

Keep in mind, the one joint uses a specific clamp. $12 each at the dealer if you break one.

Ok, it will be loud, and the section over the axle will hit the axle because it's not supported by anything anymore.

GO for it.

Did you remove yours yet? Aero had mentioned that you were thinking of a glasspack. The one on our 900 sounded awesome.

I was thinking of adding a glasspack actually. It's a bit rough on the highway sometimes.

We'll see.

Anyway, it does sound nice without the center muffler. Not loud at all either. If you keep the center muffler and replace the rear with straight tube it also sounds nice...a little louder.

If you lease the pipe hanging under the car and have the exhaust terminate at the rear axle it will sound loud because of the resonance from it exiting under the car instead of behind the car.

Mufflers are not emissions control devices
