installing a resonator

Just got my resonator today to install because my car is waaay to loud and backfires a ton..anyway went to the local garage and the plan is they are going to cut righht after the weld on the flex section of the flex pipe and weld it in there..just wondering if this seems like a resonable place to put it and if it will reduce the noise being there? it seems like it would have to go there because it is the only the spot where the heatshields are wide enough for it to fit.. I circled where they are going to put it

I'd put it where the factory resonator is, which is a bit further back.

Just looked and the resonator is 7" wide and i measured how wide the heatshiled is and it is around 6 3/4 so i dont think it can go any further towards the tail pipe..is the location i chose alright ?

mine was like yours and it looked too wide to fit, but the guys at GS welded it in at a slight anbgle instead of flat(wide) and it cleared nicely. I belelive they used a 9-3 in their shop to make sure it fit right.

I thought at the angle it would be a ground clearance issue, but if you've ever seen my 9-3 it was LOW LOW LOW and I never had a problem with the resonator.

Well if you got the same one I told you it will fit perfect. Like dan said they will have to put it in at an angle. Needs to be in the middle pipe in the rear like factory. Just behind the hangers.

this isn't the best photo, but it is at a slight angle here.
