On the road to recovery

My stage 4 Viggen has never been 100%. That is why it has not been dyno'd yet.

I am pretty sure its been the hardware and not the software.

I met up with Ethan(spgproject) months ago and we found the PCV check valve was bad and caused a boost leak. We fixed that.

But he also confirmed what I thought, that there was a low load missfire. Hold the gas down at idle and you can even hear. Never a CEL though. But after the boost leak was fixed it pulls hard enough and with enough boost to blow off a hose that isnt on there with 100% force.

The problem is he, nor my dealer could get a tech 2 to communicate with my 99' ecu.

So my idle which is low at about 750 could not be adjusted and my missfire could be looked at.

So at SOC I sent Nick T home with a 9-5 tuning kit with a spare ECU in hopes to get this worked out.

Several emails and a phone call later Nick T is on the job. He explained 99's are weird. One of the fixes would be a detune that was 99 Viggen specific and would talk to a tech 2 but give up power. Do you think I went for that option?

So I asked if I could put in that tune just to get the car read and diagnosed and then put in my full tune once the hardware had been fixed. He explained why that wouldnt work. Sad Panda.

He said he would talk to Rolf.

He did. Now there is a new file waiting for my ecu.

I gotta get the Immobiliser code off my ecu connector this weekend.

I am not thinking this tune will make my problems go away. I am just hoping I can tech 2 it and find the hardware issue.

Once thats done and sorted the car will be dyno'd. Once things look there its time to move on to MORE power. (JE pistons, T5 cams, and a GT2871R).
