td-04 compressor housings

My td-04 is from a 9-5 aero and has the clamp on style inlet pipe, I've had the suggestion made to me that I buy a 9000 compressor housing so that I can put a silicone elbow onto the turbo and set up my inlet pipe that way (no interest in spending hundreds on the GS pipes, love GS but just don't have that kind of money to spend on a pipe). Has anyone tried to build their own setups on the 9-5 compressor housing? I should've looked more closely at it when I had the thing out of the car but I'm not sure if I could clamp a silicone elbow to it using a regular hose clamp.

Just really need to get that 9-5 inlet pipe off of there this spring, and not looking to spend a fortune. Any ideas? Is it just the 9000 compressor housing I'm limited to?

Fwiw, the 9000 compressor housing doesn't fit that well on a ng900/og9-3. The issue is where the bosses for the wastegate actuator are cast into the housing. You really can't connect the bottom bolt if you've still got ac. The 9k housing is also a big longer then the T7 version, which also limits what you can fit in there. My 96 has a pvc elbow on there with kanaflex hose running from the elbow up to the intake. Its not pretty, but it works.

I'd probably go with the t7 style housing and use the GS pipe instead...much simpler and much cleaner.

edit- I also forgot with the housing clocked like that you'll also have to extend the hot side intercooler piping since the 9-3 hoses don't quite match up either.

Yeah, using the 9k compressor housing on a 900 is an overall pain. You would make things much easier on yourself by using the t7 compressor housing and a genuinesaab inlet pipe like crowley said. After working on his NG that he bought from CooperS7777, and trying to fix the intercooler piping from the hot side of the turbo to the intercooler, it is a pain. Not exactly the mess you want to put yourself into.

When Kchrist and myself were trying to make the intercooler piping work, we blew off intercooler piping all over the place for a while until we were finally able to make it stay put.

Exactly. It hasn't blown off since I've owned the car. Definitely a less then ideal situation though.

Actually its not that bad it just depends on how you have the 9k compressor housing clocked. I have a #5 td04 with the 9k housing and I have no clearance issue with my wastegate actuator's bolts and the AC compressor. However it is a tight fit trying to get that elbow on there.

So now that I know it would be a super hassle (I was forewarned about the wastegate actuator but it was made to seem easily do-able) I am leaning towards just putting a better setup right onto the t7 compressor housing.

I really don't want to spend the kind of money the gensaab setup is, and I really don't like the "clamped up against" approach to the stock inlet pipe. Has anyone put a silicon or PVC elbow onto the t7 compressor housing with a hose clamp?

Additional questoin, I was given the rubber "compressor to intercooler" hose from a 9-5 aero, it seems pretty big in radius so I'm going to use it when I set up a single pass intercooler... anyone have any experience with ng900 fitment of this with any particular intercoolers? edit: I think this will work as gensaab sells it for $113 for fitment of viggen or forge intercoolers, but he does specify "if you still have the t25"
