Lightbulb stage 4 to stage 5

hello all,

so my question is... how hard would it be to go from stage 4 to stage 5?
parts and money wise, and how much of a performance gain will i see?

current mods

99 9-3 2.0 t5
jsp stg 4 tune
mp performance ic
jsp 3" dp
viggen cat back
forge blow off
td04 ( viggen )
steel braided oil and coolant lines (easy to convert to another turbo)

any opinion on people who have changed from stage 4 to 5 ? any opinions ?

I'd recommend talking to Jak about that.

Jak changes injectors between stage 4 and 5 and prefers you have a #6 td04 if your going to run a td04.

Ummmmm...you'll want do do a custom tune for anything bigger than a TD04. Of course, you could ship ECUs back and forth until you get the one you want, and other folks have done that, but you'd be WAY better off having a custom tune from the get-go.

You'll definitely need a turbo and almost certainly injectors. Custom tune is the way to go.

I'll let you know how stage 5 is in a month or so

Aside from a rear sway bar my 900 (2.3L swap, custom tune) has otherwise stock suspension. Yeah it can be a bit scary at times...just have to be a little bit more careful.

lol i agree mike, yeah my car is a handfull but i do realize the limitations of the car and im not going to sweep into a turn at 100 on the stock suspension.

i would like a little more power and am just debating how hard it would be to retune my ecu and how much more it would be.

i love highway runs and thats mostly what i use it for although i have been known to dabble in the other motorsports.

I think the ecu tuning would be the easiest out of all that stuff.

Just get whatever hw and have jak or whomever you want write you a program.

Well if you have a stock clutch still, plan on it not lasting long at all.

I'd take care of any regular maintenance stuff as well. How old is your head gasket? Get any random check engine lights?

You will enjoy your car much much more if you start sorting suspension and leave the power levels at stage 4, for now.

Honestly, you really will.
