Cosworth in my 9-3????

Anyone know if it would be possible for me to fit a Cosworth V8 engine into my '02 9-3 SE?

You'd have to figure out how to adapt it to the transmission, figure out the engine management, clearances between the shock towers/wheel wells and firewall, and probably a whole lot more I haven't considered yet.

But what the heck? Sounds like fun!

I've been itching to take a c900, turn the engine 180 deg, mount it lower and fabricate a dry-sump oiling system, then adapt it to either a Subbie or Audi Quattro AWD driveline.

There've been plenty of other wacky ideas out there: Rear engine c900's, Sonetts with T16 engines, and more...

money isn't an issue.... or maybe i'll just buy an old bmw 318is and dump it in there with twin turbos. one for low rpm and one for mid/high....

I love my saab though....so i'll find out a way to get it thrown in. prob take it to maptun usa in colorado, i think is where it is.

If money isn't an issue....

2.3 swap, ported to 2.5. top-mount GT35 and an aggressive tune.

We give people hell for wild projects because we have nothing better to do, but we'll always be interested in people finding new ways of doing things.

I don't know yet. I got the idea from TOp Gear Mag....or maybe it was Redline...I don't remember. But, that was like a few days ago, so I have a bit of research....should be interesting.

Cosworth V8's are not easy to come by and they are not like a chevy small block. In other words, they are big. Audi had a prototype with a cosworth V8 in it and it was a bear to install. Now you can find 4 cylinder cosworths which would fit if you are mechanically inclined, but if ya go that route then you might as well stick with the saab motor and beef it up. Installing a chevy small block would be the way to go because of the ease based on no engine management. Getting 400 whp out of a chevy is easy and cheap.
Have fun.
