Thumbs up Rave: Info from Taliaferro

Car: 2001 Viggen Convertible
Target: Transfiguration of floppy topless Viggen into a solid driver

Asked for advice from Nick at GS. Gave him a list of things that I was considering to purchase.

Was expecting the usual "get this, and that for max performance" talk. What I got was an invitation to ease into things. He gave me honest answers and advised me to hold off on certain parts until the power is ready to be increased, and instead lead me towards the basic & highly recommended suspension changes.

Now, to get off my arse and whip out the plastic...

Let me guess....

6 point brace was the main one, along with 22mm rear anti roll bar and maybe a steering rack clamp and brace.

Bingo. Obviously you've been there a long time ago, being Stg4 now...?
The 6-pt & 22mm ARB were secondary to the clamp & brace. Koni Coil/Damper set were recommended as a fine pairing, but advised to wait until the above were installed to see if there is still a need.

Having driven a very low c900t for the major part of the 13-year relationship with the beast, even without the stiffening hardware, [email protected] yes, there is a need for new springs. So the Konis are in as well. I was actually considering keeping the OEM Boges and marrying them with GS's H&R coils, but he corrected me on that.

A little concerned about the amount of drop, after reading this post:

Yes, thats an understatement.

I had purchases from Nick 10 days before I took delivery of my car

I have quite a collection of GenuineSaab receipts at this point. I have at least 20 transactions totaling about 30 items I would say.

It sounds like you'll be having some fun in 2008! Are you going to try to increase the performance at all before the next dyno day (whenever that might be)?

You caught me!
It was going to be a secret to the SCS peeps
Now that the locals know, I'll have to follow through...!

The car has never been upgraded (besides a set of bling-b-s type wheels), and the parts have aged in Arizona heat and Pacific NorthWest moisture...

I'll get to the performance side of things, when the restoration is done.
First thing's first - need to tighten things up to get motivated.

Jam I e

Its on my to-do list. Right now the car is resting for winter and waiting for a Optima yellow top, Aero big brake rear kit, and to get the missfire issue sorted. Then it should be in the condition to make a few pulls.
