Asking for GS Motor mount install tips....

....I just ordered the GS motor mount. I already have the tranny mount from GS. I understand they work better in tandem. The review on the site was very helpful. With only the tranny mount, I still get a slight grind forcing into third when I'm really on it. Are there any tips other than loosening the tranny mount and using a hydraulic jack with a piece of wood to take the weight of the engine when installing??

Thanks. That write up looks really good. Do I have to mess with the shift linkage? I don't have a short shifter. I also have no idea how to do that.

Its a good idea to. Your engine is sitting a little different in your car now. You should get smoother shifts when it has been centered properly.

Is there a write up for that procedure that you are aware?

Make sure you have that bolt of the stock engine mount lined up perfect while unbolting it. Can make for a nightmare and stripped threads if you don't. Also getting the mount in and out once its all unbolted seemed like a PITA to me.

That thought had occurred to me. I've done several Mercedes mounts for motors and rear subframes and they all seem to have that problem.

The thing that causes the problem is the bloody little locating stub. Just becomes a pain in the ass getting it in because of the where the frame is and the leading edge of the mount gets snagged on it. You'll see what I mean when you do it.

Thanks. I'm sure I will. I am more concerned about the shifter alignment thing. I've never done that before on ANY car. I'm hoping Tweek can help me with that one.

I'll be honest. I haven't re-aligned my shifter yet since installing my GS engine and trans mount. It's on my to do list since it'll get done when I do the clutch.
