n/a cams in a turbo?

I have been searching for the article about swapping cams mentioned in the n/a intake manifold article and can't find anything. Does anyone have any info on this. Should I swap both cams, just the intake, just the exhaust? I would love to hear from someone who has done this already.

After reading alot of these posts, All I've gathered so far is that;

the T7 head flows better than a T5 head.

T7 valve stems are thinner and weaker

b234i (2.3L N/A) cams both I AND E have a higher lift and larger angle of duration.

Does anyone know if swapping the b234i cams into a T5 head is worth it with the loss of low end?

Thank you Mr. Tweek. I had also found several of these posts but checked the remaining ones you recommended. While all very informative I still have not found a definitive answer. I would rather the low end power as my daily commute does not provide opportunity for any 120 mph wide open throttle driving. Due to the 2.3 N/A higher lift and duration I was thinking they should boost bottom end. Will a mix of stock cams and 2.3 N/A cams make more power? Maybe the 2.3 exhaust but the stock intake?

One reason the T7 head flows better is because of the thinner valves...Its a double edged sword.

The main thing about using pure N/A cams would come to the duration. I am not sure if the N/A cams (when using both I and E) have overlap (meaning the exhaust and intake are open at the same time). Of course if thats the case, then more harm than good would probably come of it. But if they dont, then with the right tune, you might see come gains.

Well after re-reading everyones posts on cam timing and exhaust gas pulses, I have decided to hold off on the cam swap until someone can post an idiot proof explanation such as 2.0l turbo with 2.3 N/A cams = x horsepower, 2.0l turbo with stock cams = x horsepower. Thanks everyone for the overwhelming amount of info. I wish I could say I understood everything posted but I will wait for the more Saab Savvy to take care of all the R&D on the cam swap. Besides I have to drive to work everyday. Nobody wants to have to swap cams at 5 am because last nights tuning was a failure.

this is something I would feel a little more comfortable doing in conjunction with a tune. I'm also starting to question the size turbo you may need to see any significant top end gains.

I would also like to see some dyno results without software to see where it pushes the power band with X turbo.

On a T5 I would not change cams / intake without being able to tune it in person. You are drastically changing VE and it will not be so good for the A/F ratios.

What about swapping a N\A intake manifold onto an turbo car? Would this net some gain? What about bore/hone out of the stock exhaust manifold? Maybe ceramic coating them both? Any thoughts? These are all ideas that have crossed my mind...
