Stage 3 W/O downpipe

I have a sweet deal on a sqr stage 3 but i don't have a downpipe. can i still run the stage three safely?????

Buy a fuel pump.


Buy the tune.


Save for a DP.


Buy DP.


Install tune.


Be happy.

I wouldn't do it w/o the downpipe. Or if you're dead-set on trying it, install an EGT gauge in your manifold so at least you can know when to backoff. Things could end very badly otherwise.

I have not had a larger than stock downpipe on my 9-5 for like a year with "stage3"

I think needing a downpipe on an GT17 or T25 is silly. the restriction is not in the downpipe, it's in the fact that the turbo outlet is about the size of a wallnut no matter how large the downpipe is, the EGT's will still be crazy high. oh well!

The car will be fine with the stage 3. Just dont drive too hard b4 getting the correct hardware.

maybe i pick DP up at SOC . And just buy day passes for the two days i will be there(can't get off work tell friday morning)(GF spent all her money than most of mine on a 2 and half week vaction with no pay. I was working) and on the way back have a fast car.

My guess would be 15-20.


It's not just about the boost though. It's about timing, fueling, THEN psi.

Get an upgraded pump then while you're at it.

Get a DP, and a bigger I/C and stg3 will be your starting point.
