Has anyone every heard of........

I'm getting ready to purchase my ECU upgrade. I've been shopping around because I think $1000 is too high for an ECU upgrade.

There was this one tuner company that was slightly cheaper and offered programming for Saabs.... but I can't remember the name of the company or the website . I do remember that they were located in Austrailia.

Instead of ECU exchange or PPC they would ship you a laptop to plug into program your ECU. They also programmed ECU's for other types of cars like BMWs.

I have been hardcore searching for the link but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know of this company?

this is just an opinion, so take it or leave it, But...

I would be skeptical of a device to program your own ECU. Especially if you have T-7. the ECU is very complex...

it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

If you are looking at something like this:
http://www.vanaaken.com/europe/protu...omemulator.htm

I would leave it to a professional tuning company.

From what the guy explained to me It worked just like a PPC, except it was a laptop. They also could do ECU exchange like the other companies.

i don't know the name of the company you're referring to, the only company that sounds remotely close may be superchips.co.uk...but if you check out the other thread i just started https://www.saablink.net/TSL/saabforu...886&highlight= i put in an afc and blitz boost controller....i'm hoping that will allow me to avoid putting in a pretuned ecu from a foreign company.

My car is T7 so it probably won't help much but thanks anyway.

Still can't find the link to this company.

I don't know... if it were me i would still go with one of the "big" ECU tuners.
(maptun, sqr, bsr, nordic)

almost $500 for 24-30HP, or almost a grand for 55 horses???? I guess it's pretty close to being about the same if you go dollar for dollar.

Let us know how it works out if you do get one.

WO Wait a second here.

I put my N/A details in and apparently they can modify my ECU to gain 15 horses from it, from stock 150HP to 165HP and from stock 152 ft/lbs of torque to 168. Damn! And for only $490...Wow I might think about doing this!!!!!

Just spoke with Travis from Powerchips.
I asked him how they stack up against a company like Maptun or BSR. Travis said that Superchips is not trying to wring out every last bit of horsepower, they tune on the safer side(Powerchips only raise boost by 3 or so psi). He did say however that their horsepower figures are underrated.
They're located in CA.

Superchips is one of the biggest chip tuners in the world, they just don't (yet) have a strong Saab following. It's interesting to hear that they're entering that market.

yeah, that is pretty neat. i am not trying to knock Superchips!

but Trionic is pretty intense and complex. From what i have heard, the folks at maptun and SQr used to work for Saab, some of them as trionic engineers. Rumors? Fact? i dunno...

but either way I just feel like some of the other tuners are better experienced with Trionic seeing as that's all they do and they aren't claiming to tune a Saab with the same level of skill as they tune a VW or Buick or Audi or Ford...

I mean anyone with a calculator can do my taxes for me, but if I have a complex return for a business I feel better paying a bit extra for a certified trained a tax specialist instead, just to be sure it is 100% right. doesn't mean Joe Calculator can't read up on taxes and do it, but...

It's just my opinion, not trying to sway anyone either way!

Sorry guys... I edited my post I meant Powerchips (www.powerchipgroup.com)

I do think there is a possibility for creating a group buy so If there is anyone that would be interested, I'll start a list in the group buy section.
