So Nick sent out a new strut bar today. Its nice that I didnt have to wait for him to receive the old one first. I will update on how this one works out, I shall have it by Thursday.

OK so the new bar came today.

This one came with the blue GS logo on it so right off the bat I wanted it to work :P

So the question was, is the problem my car or the bar....the answer....

BOTH

The 2nd bar was definitely a lot closer but I could tell the threads coming up from the struts were still a bit off. So a couple of light whacks with a mallet and I was able to bolt everything down. Only problem was one of the 4 points on the bar is hitting the lip of my strut tower/strut opening so its not sitting flush and just not seating right. I didnt have the time or the energy to pull the bar off. So at a later time I will play with tweaking it or adding a washer or two.

Drivers side, both points are seated correctly:

Passenger side, as you can see one of the two isnt sitting correctly...blame the car being tweaked by a mm or so.

yeah, strut towers being a smig off is typical of most NG-900's and 9-3 at this point it seems. someone on JBO about 2 years back tried to install a strut bar on his 88 cavalier, and it was off by about an inch or something but the car still drove fine.

did you try jacking it up and seeing if the thing aligns? the cars are so floppy you'd probably get it to match right up depending on where you jack from. If not I’d say break out the washers! It isn’t the space shuttle

Jameson.

Jack the car up on the center of the crossmember. Lossen the Passenger side bolts first. It will drop right into place.

A couple questions after looking at the pics.
Mobil 1 sticker? My car doesn't have that.
What's the triangular sticker to the right of the emissions sticker. Nope on mine too.
The cylindrical shaped thingy near the intake and Mobil 1 sticker that is part of the AC system. Absent on my car too.
Correct me if I'm wrong. It's a 1999 right?

Mmmm. I do have the newer gear oil. I had the shifter fork replaced and supposedly the newer oil.
EPC doesn't show that label or the Mobil 1.

The triangle label comes on the actual gear oil bottle.

We have some Mobile 1 stickers at work. I'll check them out and see what they say.

It's probably not a Saab thing cause doesn't Saab recommend Saab synthetic?

I'll have to pull the paperwork and see what they put in.
I use Mobil 1 most of the time. I was just curious about the differences between 2 cars that are supposedly identical. The EPC doesn't tell me what that AC part is either.

No I didnt, I was able to fit it on the ground. I will rework it to get that one mounting point solid at a later time.

Kinda ot, but Jameson you need to get yourself a battery cover! That'd clean up the look of the engine bay, especially with all that carbon you've got.

So far it feels like it affected the steering the most. It responds to steering inputs quicker and with a more direct feel.
