"upgrading" early ng900 control arms

So, is it pretty simple?
new sway bar, new arms, and new sway bar links?
I'd like to update the old stuff as I go along, and I'll have the engine/subframe out, so it makes sense.

Anyone have a good front sway bar?
Would it make sense to grab a Viggen bar?

For sway bars, the SE OG9-3 front swar bars were actually beefier than the Viggen bars. The Viggens had stiffer springs and softer roll bars, except the convertibles, the Viggen convertible springs are a different design. Unsprung, they're longer than stock SE 5-door springs, I'd imagine the roll bars were different too. Long story short, SE sedan front bar is probably what you want and easier to find.

The other stuff is really easy to take apart (I don't know if the geometry is the same or not, and whether you can just swap parts between models).

Are the subframes the exactly same between ng900/og9-3? If the struts are in the same place and the 6 main bolts are in the same place I bet you could just use an entire SE subframe w/arms and everything attached(?)

Subframes are identical. Only the really old 1994ish ng900s with the integrated sway bar were different.

I have one like this:

The bar has a flat end- I assume the endlink is pressed-on

Vs the "flattened" end with an eyelet like the newer cars.

Glad to know that the SE was a stiffer bar. Any idea what the code was? I think thesaabsite lists them as A, B , and G.

G looks to be 25mm. That's the larger, right?

Not sure what the code is, I have my yellow Viggen down for a clutch right now. I put an SE bar on it years ago, I'll take a measure on the diameter tomorrow. It's definitely newer style w/flattened ends.

If the subframes are the same, then the only other thing would be if the struts were in a slightly different position, that seems pretty unlikely though. Otherwise it looks like you can just order the newer arms and rollbar w/ends(?)

The SE bar is measuring right around 35mm ( ≈1.39 on the dial mic)

It's 35 for sure where i measured it. I'm leisurely putting things back together today, will take another measurement at a different spot, like in the middle. I measured a few inches in from the end before, on the straight section, pretty sure far enough from any bends to effect it.

Yep, confirmed. It's 35mm for sure. It came off my first Saab, an '01 SE 5-door that was originally delivered in Sri Lanka but ended up at Performance Saab in Houston where I bought it with 60k miles. That car was a little strange though, it put down like 218whp (dynojet) bone stock. Maybe it was some sort of factory hot rod

I have a pic of the measurement, no time to post it now though

Something is up, for sure. That's cool, though!
I found a 25mm on ebay for ~50 shipped, so I grabbed that with some moog control arms, itooked like the p/o had replaced them recently, but they look like nordic stuff :/

Here's a pic of the measurement from the SE bar.

Thinking about it more, I think it was Nick that told me that the SE bars are beefier like this one.

I didn't doubt that it was 35, but all I can find online is 25, which I bought.
Mine came from an 03 sport which was code-G. Checked the VIN and all.
I'll be happy with this, either way.
