Big Turbo T28 GPopShop

-One question about the new turbo I did install, a full upgrade from a T25 to larger compressor wheel and clipped exhaust wheel.

Under hard acceleration, I hear this loud hissing sound when the engine is hot and during high external temps. I tracked down the boost leaks known to me and I am wondering if this sounds comes from any type of valve where the T5 system is cutting power/boost during hot temperatures?

The turbo boosts really hard when the external temp is low, lets say 20 degrees, at 28-30 degrees you get a significant drop in boost and power and this hissing sound.

maybe someone here can point me in the right direction, in case this is not normal? thanks a lot in advance!

Just sounds like major boost leaks to me... Big time !

Are you running a boost gauge ?

the waste-gate will open and let boost out (to protect your engine) but that exits out the exhaust..

If you had a external waste-gate you would hear it !

You may need to upgrade your Recirc valve/ blow off valve ..

I also run a "big"T 28 from the G-pop shop...Great turbo...had mine for nearly two years now

hmm, the forge blow off valve from genuine saab is installed,
that thing works great.

So I guess I have to look more for boost leaks.

When does your turbo give full boost?
I think mine does not come on before after 3200rpm.
Also if you can point me to a good boost gauge that would be great.

Found it, the waste gate rod wasn't screwed down tight enough.
So it cracked open when hot cause of the hot spring and loose installation.
-At least that is what i think it was
