6-Speed Dual Mass Flywheel Conversion

I saw a lot of stuff over at SC about changing from a DMF to a single mass on a 5-Speed, but couldn't find anything about the 6-Speed transmissions.

Anyone know if there is an option for this conversion on the 6-Speeds? I'm not keen on paying $1000 for a new flywheel if there's a $100 option out there.

Well the OEM flywheels have come down in price immensely. I bought a 04 6spd aero with a spec light weight fly wheel and I've never wanted to take the trans out more and replace the clutch once I heard the rattle from the flywheel. Absolute embarrassment to drive with that rattle from the trans. I replaced everything with OEM parts, cost less than $500. I'm a master tech at a Saab dealer so my prices were less than list. I do not recommend doing any type of spec set up. Stick with the stock flywheel!!!

Was the Spec lightweight an aluminum flywheel? I have heard pretty bad things about those rattling.

The idea was to go with a steel flywheel and a non Spec clutch.

Have you looked into doing the Buick GS flywheel and clutch kit? It's a direct bolt on to our cars (F40) and it holds stage 3 just fine. Its a dual mass flywheel, and I believe the clutch can hold up to 350 ft/lbs of torque. I paid around $450 in parts. Not a bad install eith, if you are mechanically inclined. Just takes time, took me 12 hours.
