Genuine Saab V6 Engine Mount Inserts Install

Nick was kind enough to let me test some early samples of his new front engine mount inserts for the V6. The installation couldn't have been easier. But you will need an E18 Torx socket, it's not a common size, most sets only go up to E16.

Putting the front up on ramps is the best way to go. The engine must be supported with a jack stand since the mount needs to be completely removed. The mount is attached to the engine block with two E18 Torx and one long E18 Torx connects the mount to the frame. With the mount removed the silicone inserts slide into the holes in the rubber, then reinstall. The entire job takes about 20 minutes.

Full power shifts are a bit easier and quicker with the insets. I already have the Genuine Saab short shifter and solid shifter mount kit, these inserts further improves full power shifting. Cabin vibration is not noticeable increased.

Yep those are UGLY proof of concept parts.

Be interesting to see the changes next time you are on the dyno.

That front mount shouldn't be holding much. I did mine without needing to support it.

Have a couple other parts almost done... Trying to make the TX as much fun to drive as my fully sorted viggen.

Looks good. I'm liking all the 2.8 bits.

Is it even necessary to support the engine to remove that rear torque mount? I had my subframe loose when I replaced the sway bar bushings and no engine weight seemed to be on it.

Are these eventually going to be available for all of the v6's? I know there's a trq mount for sale on GenuineSaab but it's only for the xwd model...
