Exhaust Progress

Well, I made a thread a couple weeks ago requesting downpipe pics. Here is mine not quite finished yet with the new header.

I got as far as the trans bracket. I had to bend the bracket slightly to make everything fit.

This is the next piece that of the downpipe. I thought I had this all figured out when I was piecing it together but it isn't fitting quite right.

Thanks to IronJoe for posting the duck tape method of building exhaust. It works pretty good. I'm tacking it together with my mig welder and will then get it tig'ed the rest of the way.

lol, it's a dinky stock T3. Kind of silly with all of those fancy mandrel bends, but you have to start somewhere.

Nice work Nate, it's looking great!

I really like the use of the v-bands, where did you pick them up? I need to redo the dp-back portion of my exhaust...

What muffler are you going with?

Hey Joe,

I'm actually looking at some as we speak. You can look on aptuning.net.

Cheers,

Jitters

Yes 3". The hot rodder guy I bought the straight pieces from thinks I'm crazy.

I got the v-bands from ATP Turbo. The stainless ones are quite expensive but if you use steel they will be much cheaper. ATP is also awesome in the fact that they sent me the wrong flange turbo flange to me, but overnighted the right one with no cost to me.

I have a 3" Borla Pro XS muffler on the way. Also I'm dumping the wastegate to the atmosphere but want to put a muffler on it.

I'll keep this thread updated as I progress to the rear bumper.

That's awesome. I was looking on ATP today. They have some very nice stuff. Am ordering the flange and V-band tomorrow. Did you use the steel flange or the SS? Is your piping SS or steel, also, may I ask where you purchased your piping from...I'd like to purchase all of the components and then have my muffler guy put everything together for me...

Keep up the great work.

The v-band flanges are SS, as is the v-band clamp. The tubing is SS. I bought the straight tubing locally for $4/ft (quite a deal) and the bends are from http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/

Hey Nate,

Thanks for the info. I'll check around locally to see where I can pick up the straight lengths of SS. I'm sure my muffler guy can locate as well.

Thanks again for the info!

Caio,

Jitters

Looks good Nate!

I'm not screwing around with anything by v-bands anymore. So nice to work with when servicing.

Ok, here is some more progress.

Here is my new muffler, a Borla Pro XS. 100% SS construction.

The joint next to the support hanger has been giving me trouble for 2 weekends. I ended up cutting a piece at a 4 degree angle to get the intermediate pipe to center in the tunnel.

View from the back

View from the front

Next step is to connect the muffler to the intermediate pipe and build some hangers for it.

Top-notch work there Nate. I'm very curious to hear the sound it produces.

I am kinda bored of my Magnaflow and am thinking of switching it up.
