I think the fireballs that come out of the exhaust will suffice

Apparently, a drunk driver hit them on the auto-x.

Hopefully, they are ready to go for tomorrow.

This car is fast as fuck, really all that is needed to be said about it.

Maybe "was" instead of "is".

Car will get stripped of parts, some will make it onto the next project, some are trash.

The car performed very well, and hopefully much of the motor is salvagable. There's new timing chains in there, new seals, lots of other new parts. I'll post photos of all the damage as the car is being taken apart.

No idea on weight, I would have liked to have known, but we did not have the time to get it over to a scale before packing it full of wheels and tires and loading it on a trailer.

The car felt very fast, even "off the line" fast, but it was not as fast as I could have been. However if we had turned up the boost we would have probably lost the motor a lot sooner than we did, and possibly would have wrecked the car even more. I think keeping it around 4-5 psi was the way to go for this track.

Delorean's 1991 9000 that will be a future lemons car promptly reminded me to update this thread.

I finally go around to taking apart the motor from my 1991 to see why it was leaking oil everywhere.

I had suspected that the lack of intercooler and generally beating the hell out of the car caused some very bad blow-by and pressurized the crankcase. I was surprised to find out otherwise.

Upon removing the head, the cylinders walls were in great shape, with no marks from piston slap, the piston skirts looked perfect too. I dug in further and removed the rod and crank bearing caps. All perfect, no galling, no signs of wear. Again, seemed odd. I was still wondering why the oil was flowing out the crank seal.

I found the problem when removing the timing cover...it was cracked, a LARGE chunk was sitting there, still in place, like a loose tooth. I don't know why the car felt like it was limping along toward the end, but it doesn't look like it was due to mechanical failure at this point.

Just thought I would give that posthumous update.

huu, interesting. You think something cracked it in the crash? I would imagine the car lost quite a significant amount of motor oil at an alarming rate with a failure like that.

My guess would be either cracked in the crash, or cracked as a result of having only the upper dog-bone mount and the trans mount holding the motor in. The two lower motor mounts sheared when the car hit the wall.

No idea if I still have it, probably just the engine side, ending at the plug that goes into the fire wall. Not up for "grabs" though...if there is a market for a 1991 9000 LH2.4.2 harness engine let me know, I probably don't need it.
