Intercooler project

So i would have gotten further, but FED-EX is a liar....said it was in the truck for delivery, yet nothing showed up today.
anyway, pulled the front end off, came off really easy.

was thinking about where to put the IC and decided i want to yank the stock IC and move the A/C condenser back. this was easier then I thought. i cut the brackets that hold the stock IC, unbolted the a/c fan, moved things around and the IC dropped out. then the a/c just went into the holes that it would go into if the car were N/A.

i now have 3.5 inches between that support and the a/c. as soon as the IC gets here tomorrow I hope. ill make the brackets to support it.

Did you roll a bead on the pipe ends so the hoses don't slip off? I've done some research and most people stongly recommend doing something to flare the ends. You really don't want a hose to blow off. Looks awesome though, I'm glad you did it before me, now I know exactly what pipe to use!

ebay special, it was 186 shipped. its a 28x7x2.5 IC. i got the two couplers for the turbo and TB from http://siliconeintakes.com

for the pipes slipping off all, i only lost one of the rolled edges, to fix it i used the cheapest hairspray i could find, makes it east to slip on and a complete bitch to get it off, with the hairspray and band clamps i hope Ill be fine, if not ill have the edges rolled

you dont even need a full bead, you just need like 4 tiny spot welds on the edges of the pipe...ive never blown mine off with 25 psi

Nice

I bet you'll also notice that the boost doesn't taper/fall off anymore.

Yeah other than whatever hp benefits you get (I found about 10whp across a chunk of the rev range), it felt so damn nice to be able to do consecutive pulls without feeling a loss in power on the butt dyno. Addicting.

Very nice, that is probably one of the nicest fits I have seen in terms of centering the intercooler in the lower valence!

Could you have fit a taller IC in that position? I have a 12x18x3 (core... counting end-tanks) that I have laying around.

Just curious.

2.75 to 2.5 90 degree

im wondering...was it even necessary to move any of the components at all? it appears the new intercooler is mounted in front of where everything was in the first place
