saab griffin power upgrade?

Hi guys pretty much a newby here. I have just bought a saab 905 griffin 1999in very good nick. with 100,00 k's or 66k miles. I want a performence upgrade not huge say 30-50 hp. is there a performence chip/ I have heard of the 'evosport' powerchip which delivers about 36 horsepower. my research thread went cold and I cant find out anymore. Any sugestions guys for a few more horses?

Cheers

have someone tune it after throwing intake and exhaust or just an intake.

honestly thats your best bet.

These " chips " do not work on any single car in the world.

Get a 3'' down pipe, tune, open air intake and a new blow off and your good for that power you want.

get a real tune for it, that will give you the power you are looking for, and it is the easiest/cheapest way to acomplish it.

do not get one of those performance chips, they are simply a resistor pack in an MAF, and cause the car to lean out, a lot

Thanks guys! will the suggested tunes make the car less quite or the engine bay look like a boy racer's. I am very much into a subtle approach. can this be achieved? Sorry for perhaps naive questions. but this is new to me.

(edited) actually I have just had a look at some modded engine bays and they looked beautiful (but could not find the V6 3L does anyone have a pic of the engine bay after the mods? Would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

you dont have a turbo?

in that case i think you are out of luck IIRC.

intake and exhaust are about all youve got for options on the cheap. and they wont look boy racer unless you get crazy colored ones.

if it is the v6, save your money... the 3.0 v6 was known to have lots of issues... if you want a tuner, get a 4-cylinder Saab

I disagree With you. I know the motor is GM base design but it runs cars like the Cadillac in the US. I know it is not purely SAAB BUt there are lots of other perspectives that conflict with yours. Including my SAAB specialist workshop here in Perth who I have come to know over a period of 15 years. and trust implicitly. There are potential weaknesses that can all be managed with correct maintenance. This engine does mostly everything I would like. Especially impressive is it's willing delivery of the power it has "on demand" in my opinion anyway. I love driving this motor.

sure - but you will find that you hold the minority opinion in the US... talk to any owner or former owner of a 3.0 v6 and/or mechanic.

yeah the 3.0 V6 isnt a bad engine but nowhere near as tuning friendly as the 4 cyl.

grab yourself an intake and exhaust and call it a day. thats about all you can do on it.

"grab yourself an intake and exhaust and call it a day" that Makes sense nowhereman but can you be specific about what I should do about the intake and exhaust? Just somewhere for me to start looking

that looks like a software upgrade to the ecu.

and honestly i have no idea where to find an intake and exhaust for the V6. Its not a very popular engine and not conducive to tuning.

Has anyone used "BSR" tuning kit for any ecu tuning upgrade?

Congrats dude! Yes you have a non-tuner friendly car, but that is okay! Have fun and keep your money in your wallet, really is not worth it to try and tune this engine.

Check out saabcentral. I think there are several members there that are tunning and upgrading the v6. It does not have such a well known or common upgrade path. But like ANY engine, there are things you can do to improve performance.
