SAAB Machining Specialist

Hi guys, I am new to posting on this forum, but I would like to show some of the machine work that I have done for Harvey's Autohaus over the past couple of years.
The goal of this thread is to show some of the general and performance machining operations that should be done to SAAB engines and components. I am willing to offer insight, suggestions and tech info for machining SAAB builds.
I have been an automotive machinist by trade for 20 years and do all machining aspects in house.
Though I am relatively new to the SAAB world, I have decades of experience in performance modifications on engines of all types.
After having many conversations with Harvey, it seems as thought there is a lack of reliable shops that can, or are willing to do competent- none the less, quality work on SAAB engines. I can offer my services directly, or at least give insight as to what to ask for from a local machine shop to get the results that you expect!

More over I have realized that there is a need for performance parts, such as a reasonably priced and easily attainable Reindeer style header, sheet-metal intake and a proper windage tray with crank scraper. I will start a different thread to cover engine performance upgrades that are of interest.

I will answer any tech questions directly on this thread, but out of respect for the forum, I will only answer private business through PM or direct emails. There aren't any secrets, just respect toward general forum rules.

I will handle any aspect of machining, but I suggest that you contact Harvey for combinations, tuning or assembly, as I have complete confidence in him as he has for my work!

Being fairly new to this site here is a link to recent work done.

Thanks!

Here are some great pics, with some more to come!

I pulled out all the stops on your crank! 3 hours of contour grinding and an additional 3 hours of polishing before It went out to get Nitrided! If time allows I will also have it electro-polished! But I realize we are on a time line.
I have some HP ideas next time your ready!!

NEEDS MOOORE Pics! Show off some of that pretty vintage stuff you have laying everywhere. These aren't SBCheby guys but neither are you. Pull the cover off that low rider project & take a pic, Or just a sample of all those Chief Pontiacs Crammed in the garage.

Here's some pics of your crank after the extensive contouring and polish work.

Sean has done some amazing work to my Saab. The difference is night and day. I thought the stage 4 I was running was quick, but the difference now is simply amazing.

Yesterday I had a person chuckle when talking about cars and I pointed to mine. He said "that's just a Saab". I said "really? Let's go for a quick spin" and as I accelerated and hit 20 did a quick pull to 60. Saw his eyes wide open and he said "holy cow".... yup.

I highly recommend Sean's work to anyone who wishes to put some decent $$ into a very solid and serious build. And to Sean's credit, he called me before doing the work and we talked for a good 30 minutes to discuss exactly what we wanted to accomplish and what he intended to do.

Anyone who wishes to see the effect, just ask me to take a spin at one of the upcoming meets.

I don't know if the camera picked it up or not, but the highly polished ares now have a pinkish hue to them and vary to a very dark blue in the areas the are rougher or have not been polished. I will take more pics after it has been ground polished and balanced!

By the way, I'd like to thank everyone for the great feedback and kind words!

And now for the finished, Balanced to fit pats motor only, Polished, Ground, Re-heat treated with nitride gas in an oven for a few days delivered product. The Funky psychedelic coloring isn't rust, its the after affect of the nitride oven treatment.

If I was not so far I would most definitely bring my needed machine work to you! Looks great! My last engine balance was done... Incorrectly by the last machine shop I used, and before that I have had sketchy work done from a different shop. Why you have to be so far!!! Lol, looks awesome!!!!
