Walbro pump, modifying basket question...

I'm installing a walbro 340 255 pump.
The inner mesh basket...
I ground the upper diameter larger so the pump will go in.
But it sits about inch above the bottom of the mesh basket.
The original pump goes clear to the bottom.
Do you guys grind the lower pump supports in the basket so the pump fits in deeper?

Yes you can carfully shave them with a good small sharp wood chisel ( DO NOT PUNCTURE THE SCREENING MATERIAL)
